    Gen 5 Sidewinders on a Gen 2

    Hi Guys,

I have a bone stock silver 99 GTS and I need new tires. I want to upgrade my wheels at the same time and I am thinking of putting on Gen 5 Sidewinder II wheels.

My car is not lowered and where I currently live I can't lower my car due to near scraping every time I leave my driveway.

Are the wheel well gaps better, worse, or the same if I put on 18"x11 fronts and 19"x13 rears with P-zero tires (295 front and 355 rear)?

Any pictures or insights would also be appreciated!

    Thank you!

I'm on the eibach springs, but you can still get a comparison. Rears will be larger overall, fronts will be smaller overall with the 355/30 and 295/30 pirellis.

Those wheels are my favorites, but I've seen two stock height Vipers with Gen V wheels and they looked like they were lifted. The look above is perfect, but as stated its lowered.

Thank you for the replies. That look does look perfect and what I'm looking for....how much lower is your front clearance compared to stock? I certainly don't want a lifted look. I may be able to get away with slightly lowering the car.

    Thank you!

Outer diameter with new wheels/tires is .6" smaller, so front clearance should drop by .3".

If it's just an issue of your driveway, there are ways to go about not scraping. Aside from the heavy duty rubber driveway aides there is also the "2 tire" method I described in a different thread but I have seen it used very well by a friend of mine in his vette and Ferrari. It's also what I do wth my car if I visit my parents

My car is on Eibachs and caps and that is as low as I can do with our roads and parking lots in Tucson. But I think if you did just the eibachs you will like the look and you can fix the driveway issue easily enough. Either way, newer Viper wheels are probably the best and easiest mods for looks you can do. It looks awesome and can make the car look brand new, plus tire selection is great and killer Pirelli deal!!!

    Enjoy!

My '00 GTS is also bone stock. I just updated with Gen 5 Rattlers and new 295/355 Pirellis. The outer diameter is about 1/2 inch lower in the front, but an inch and a half higher in the rear. Fills up the rear wheel wells better, but gives a slight rake to the car, which I like. Overall, it slightly lowers the front facia about 1/2 an inch with the rake.
