Angry Does anyone know this 2003 Silver vert for sale in Texas

    Hello,

So I'm in the market for a gen 3 Viper. I saw this Viper for sale at another dealership in Texas a few months back, but my car hadn't sold yet. Now that it sold, I again see this car at Texas Hot Rides, in Dallas (I'm in Houston). I made an offer on eBay, and then called to schedule an appoint this past Saturday. Drove the 4.5 hours with my wife and 2 year old to see it.

Get there and it's parked in their garage right by the exit ramp, but it's parked all the way against the wall so you can't open the drivers side door. I asked if they could get it outside so I can take a better look, and the salesman was like, uh, it's kinda hard to do that, it's low, I need to put some boards down, yada yada. He was like are you sure you want to buy it. I kinda chuckled and was like, well I'm here to find out. It felt a little fishy, like they wanted a commitment before even looking the car over. They didn't want to budge on price either, which is understandable. Anyways, what little I saw, it was a nice car. Sounded nice. But both door panels had broken window trim.

Was thinking of making another offer, but I feel like they were hiding something and I'm annoyed they didn't have the car ready to view, as I made the appointment/drive for that sole purpose....am I wrong to think that? Anyways, just thought I'd see if I can get some feedback...on the car and/or situation. Frankly, the more I think about it, the more annoyed I get.

I don't know the car, but a simple google search found this quick tidbit:
    http://www.viperalley.com/forum/vipe...ell-their.html

From a visual and not listed on the texas hot rides ad is the roll bar, slotted rotors, and painted calipers.

If something makes you feel like something fishy is going on or you get a bad vibe, walk away! There are plenty of Vipers out there for sale, find one that you can confirm is a clean car. Do you research ahead of time and find the right car, if you buy something on impulse you may regret it!

Sounds like a dipshit dealer. Sharp "looking" car. I'd look for an alternative.

Wow, 5 owners and sold twice at auction. Currently listed on ebay and Craigslist. Here's the link to Carfax report: https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistor...&partner=VAS_0

If a dealer/seller treated me like that, I would laugh at them and walk away. You committed a full day to drive there, look at it and drive home, and they don't even have the common courtesy to make the car available to inspect.

    Their loss

It is a good looking car but silver convertibles are not hard to find and you can easily get wheels and lower it if that's the look you are after

Just to put the bad experience behind you mentally, I would write a letter to the owner of the dealership to let him know why he lost a sale.

Good luck finding the right Viper

    - Yes, I agree, it's got a lil money in it. I did notice the Autoform roll bars.

    - I agree. I'm trying hard to control that impulse! The itch is strong for a Viper! Thanks for the reassurance.

    - Thanks, I don't know if I was reading too much into it, or the dealer was trying to hide something. Kinda strange, it was parked by itself, all the way against the wall.

    - Yup, marketed aggressively, and not sold yet. Hence why I was wondering if something's wrong with the car.

Thanks guys for the reassurance. My wife even asked, why didn't you take it for a test drive. I said, they didn't let me, probably cause I look so young. She laughed while running her hand thru my grey hairs...

Sounds like this may not be the car for you. Particularly the way the dealer treated you, after driving there and then not getting to look the car over. If window trim is broken on both doors, that usually means both window regulators were replaced, however I would want to confirm that. Regardless of where buy, it would be prudent to have a Viper Tech look the car over first. If you hang on a little longer, you may get a better deal with cold weather on it's way. Good Luck.

I am selling my Gen Supercharged Gen 3. I'm asking less than what youd be in it for after tax and fees. Also more money into the car than the one youre looking at. KW coils, CCW wheels and more. Silver vertte. 2005 with 28,600 miles.
