    Rear brake calipers

I started changing out my pads and rotors today and noticed that i couldnt get the rear brake caliper pistons to retract inward. I have the brake fluid cap off and both calipers seems to be locked in place. Before i consider the both siezed and drop some cash for a new pair, can someone just let me know if there a a viper trick that i should know? This is my first brake experience on the snake. Both rear calipers seem to be locked so thats why im asking.
    Thank you

Just found a page on the web which says a spanner wrench is needed. Figures this car has to be different. Thanks! Any way to spin it back in without a spanner?

You can CAREFULLY try a medium size pair of needle nose pliers...rotate the pistons clockwise to seat them. Take care to avoid damaging the dust boots if (when) the plier tips slip out of the two depressions in the piston. I have tried many other spanner solutions to no avail..including SnapOn. Factory Miller tool works well...needle nose second best.

I recommend getting the tool for future work, but like Steve mentioned you can cheat with a pair of needle nose.

How did you attempt to move them in? Are they any different than other calipers? I just use an old pad against the pistons and a "C" clamp to move them in.

AutoZone, or any other local auto-parts store, should have the spanner adaptor for 3/8" ratchet.....super cheap. Screwing in the piston is the same method as older Honda brakes.

FYI...Autozone, Pep Boys, and NAPA sell and rent kits for this.....However, none of them had the size needed for the job within there kits. I went to Harbor Freight and bought the $44.99 kit they sell and one of the sizes matches up close enough to get the job done (not exact but it works).

Plus you can always return the 44.99 kit back to HF and get your money back when the job is done
