2001 Radio/CD player

I am about to buy a 2001 ACR and it will be a long drive back to Cali. The standard radio/CD player, if I burn some CD's with MP3 music, will it play?

If the 30 amp fuse is good on the amplifier in the back. (although I have never tried an MP3 on a disc yet).

Just burned an MP3 to a CD-R and tried it on my 1997 OEM CD player - it works fine.

If you mean to put mp3s on a CD as audio tracks it will work... but it will not play mp3s stored as files. That capability was only on later cars without the six disc changer... (and they have mp3 branded on the faceplate).

I plan on just copying MP3 files over to the CD, how else can you do it? Are you talking about burning the audio stream so the resulting CD is like an audio CD you would buy in a store?

You can burn as a data cd or a music cd.

The only thing I have found on a long trip is that it starts getting hot the cd starts skipping. Gotta shut the cd off for a bit and let it take a break.

Since I've become lazy in my older age I would be interested in buying one of these! Yes, I've done all the research and read all the threads on how "easy" it is to put another head unit in a Gen2, but...

Just pull the entire interior out and run real wires. Trying to adapt the cheesy OEM wires to a new modern stereo is a joke. The interior comes right out. Don't be scared to work on your car lol.

Guys, I'm still working out the fine details. I built and installed the first plug-n-play harness about 2 years ago. The first install was using a Kenwood radio in a members car and everything worked perfect.

The second one is being installed right now in a members car in Illinois using a Pioneer radio and he's running into an issue with depth on the driver side because of the rca connections.

So right now it looks like it's best to use a radio that has the pre-amp outputs on the passenger side.
You need a radio with at least front and rear pre-amp outputs.

Because of cost of parts and hours involved to make these, price will be about $125 shipped.
Again these are 100% plug-n-play. No cutting or splicing your factory wiring!

I received my wiring from HPmopars yesterday and had the new head unit (Alpine UTE-62BT) in the car in about 30 minutes. He even included some wire connectors, instructions on what to connect where, and a small extension for the antenna lead in case it was needed (I used it).

For those wanting a quick fix for that old head unit I highly recommend contacting HPmopars. No more burning CDs - just plug in that memory stick with your music collection and go.

For those wanting the best sound quality replacing everything is still the better plan - something I will most likely do in the future.
