What are these gen 2 shocks?

I've a friend with a gen 2 ACR who just upgraded his shocks to motecs or something similar. His ACR had some aftermarket shocks installed on them which we can't seem to identify. The reason he upgraded was because the old ones needed to be rebuilt and he could not find out who makes or rebuilds them. Anyone on here know what these shocks are and what they would be worth in their current state?

He also upgraded his brakes to gen 5 brakes and now his 18 inch CCW classics will not clear the brake kit. Anyone know what these wheels are worth without tires?

    Thanks

In this instance, you can believe what the labels say. OEM ACR late '00-02 ACR Dynamic shocks. They are good basic shocks, but are known to be leakers. The rear shocks in your box appear to have that issue and would require a re-seal. They were also regarded as being over-sprung in the rear, something like 1000 or 1100#/inch rate. That's fine if you have a big wing load, but too stiff for a clean body. 800# range is where you should be and springs don't cost too much. You might spend $500 on the shocks/springs renewal, and around $1500+ on the wheels depending on condition. New shocks of that class would probably be $3000. You will also need new bolts and adapter cones for the shocks similar to those below:

Those shocks are hard to find now days. Also those CCW Classic wheels are cool too, I have a set of those and they are 2lb per wheel lighter than the BBS wheels.

Do you guys know who can rebuild these shocks and roughly what is the cost?

I had my ACR's rear shocks rebuilt at the US distributor, Carl Haas Automobile Imports in 2006 by Alan O'Leary. In 2010, I discovered that the fronts needed rebuilding. I sent them to Performance Shock in Sonoma, CA on the recommendation of a couple of people. They found that the internal bore of the cylinders were scored and the cylinders had to be remade (no spare parts) at considerable cost. So, I bought aftermarket shocks.

You should talk to Dan Cragin at SPT. Dan rebuilt my Dynamic Suspensions about a year ago (2000 ACR also). They're holding up great so far. The cost was somewhere around $1500 to rebuild all 4.
The rebuild included a mod to the shocks upper seal to fix the leaking issue. And because it's Dan, its worth talking to him about.

First, nitrogen pressure leaks out. Then, oil cavitates because of insufficient pressure and scores the cylinder. Seals are lost, and external leaks show up. The lesson here is to make sure your reservoirs are checked annually for nitrogen pressure loss.

The '99-00 Koni-equipped ACRs had more reliable shocks. They just switched at the factory because MultiMatic was doing GTS-R development work and they were Dynamic suppliers too.

Exactly what they told me was the cause of the damage to my shocks. The Dynamics Suspensions shocks did not come stock with valves to check pressure. When the rears were rebuilt at Carl Haas, they added the valves; but, I never did check the pressures (out of ignorance.)

So, that is definitely great advice to keep an eye on gas pressure.
