I have heard that some of the GenII's have water pump issues. How can you tell if your water pump is on its way out? It doesn't look like it would be too much trouble to change it out.
Any info would be appreciated

The "common" water pump failure you hear about is the impeller comes disbonded from shaft. So the pulley/shaft will be spinning, but not the impeller thus causing it to no circulate coolant through the system.
Fairly common on 2001's. Tom Sessions changed our's electively...and, I keep a spare or two for good measure.![]()
Garbage? Melted plastic lol. The impeller is made from a thermoplastic.
Looks like JB weld.
By the way, if you start the car cold and watch temp gauge rise..with the heater controls set to fan on, defrost, and hot (red)...and keep your hand on the dash...if you feel heat as temp rises you likely have water pump function(at least partially).
Thanks for all the info guys. Much appreciated.
