Random thought/question. I have an older Viper, a 98' GTS. The brakes looks good, my mechanic (Dan) hasn't mentioned there is anything wrong with them either. After market drilled rotors and better brake pads (in theory). So the question/thought is...whenever I am out on a spirited Sunday drive amongst the twisties I find myself getting a little nervous as I go into a corner hot. The car seems to want to accelerate much faster than it stops. I'm not sure how much of it is knowing that Vipers generally don't have good brakes, the fact that I have no ABS, knowing that Vipers are tail happy, just needing more seat time on a track, or if I have crappy brakes. In any event, corners are entertaining for whatever reason. Anyone else experience this?

In my opinion, Gen I and II stock brakes are nothing short of SCARY !!! This is especially true on the street if one would happen to be driving a little too fast. There are upgrade solutions.

the last spot you want to brake...is in a corner. Brake in a straight line, accelerate thru the corner.

Your logic makes sense, that is unless you find yourself approaching the corner at 90.

Can't go wrong with this setup!
G3/4 Calipers, 2 piece rotors and ACRE Brake ducts.
Plenty of stopping power! Also be mindful of bleeding your brakes with fresh fluid.

Brake in as straight a line as possible, and hold steady throttle through the corner. Gen 2's get unsettled if you lift mid-corner. If you are still having issues, you need HP driving lessons and track time.

.... now if you hit a corner hard, and your front end pushes, is not turning, you need to lift your foot up a bit on the go pedal, (not touching the brake!) transferring a bit of weight forward so the front tires get traction, then lightly accelerate.... if you do not have a concrete wall in front and room for error, this is quite fun finding the 'edge' of traction..
To be nervous in a corner in a Viper is a sign of respect, AND intelligence!!!
