    Seat Lowering

So I finally got my helmet, an Arai GP6S. Loving the helmet. Went out and checked to see how I fit in the car with the helmet on and discovered that I need to lower my seat. I was already debating doing this. I'm only 6'1" but I have to look down at the hood even in my normal driving position. With the helmet on it feels like I'm almost having to lay down.

Does anyone have a recommendation on the best lowering adjustment? 1", 2", etc. Whether I should do this or let my mechanic? And what are the consequences of lowering the seat?

    Thx

Very easy to do. I recommend lowering by 2", since you probably wouldn't even notice a 1" drop.

No consequences that I know of, other than having a lower seat.

Any particular kit? Some kits allow you to move the seat, some don't.

I did this about 5 years ago on my last RT, and don't recall which kit I used. I was very happy with the 2" drop, and not having to look down on my hood anymore.

A 2" drop will not let you move the seat.

I did a customer 2 inch bracket to lower the seat and bolt it to the floor. Best change I ever made to my RT. A friend helped me put together a few new brackets to eliminate the tracks. We were lucky enough that it worked the first time. I have a thread somewhere with pictures.

I'm 6,2 and have the Northwind 1" lowering seat rails which are adjustable. Works just fine for me with helmet on

6-4 with 1" kit. And my head is so big it's like I have a helmet on.
