I wanted to get my order in for the very reason of production capacity running out... If they run this year like they ran other years, things will take longer than expected, and due to the Jan 1 2017 cutoff mandate, I sure wouldn't want to have one of the cars that's got three overtime shifts working on it to get it out the door in time... I think things will get rather crazy this time next year if they don't limit the ordering window somewhat to prevent non-compliance with the manufacturing mandates.

    Martin ,

There is no Jan. 1st mandatory cutoff date. No date has been set by SRT/Dodge, yet heck for all we know things could happen sooner......

I thought that, the way the law was written, cars without side curtain airbags could not be built after Jan 1, 2017 due to new regulations. Of course, I could be wrong about that since I only read the objections to the rule in various industry complaints - but it does have the "ring of truth to it."

Martin, I think the cut-off date is August 2017 for all vehicles to be in compliance...read that somewhere from the NHTSB.

That would definitely be better - it gives them time to do a full run of 2017 cars. It also leaves the door open to Dodge doing another "surprise" and having a final-final 2018 edition. After re-reading my original post, it doesn't make much sense - there's no way they'd get all the cars built by Jan 1 2017. It would have to be 2018... Oh well, one side effect I'm experiencing these days is a bit of cognitive degeneration....

Just because a car is built in 2018 does not mean it is a MY2018 car. Dont think there will be anything else past the 2017 ACR special editions. The end of the viper has been announced. The last day of production has not. ACR and 1of1 cars from here on out. I was able to find vin 64X so i think 2016 production topped out at 650-660 units. 2017 production will likely be around the same with ACR and final year special editions bringing in sales but the lack of SRT availability also means people wanting an entry level 85k car will have a tough time finding one unless they ordered in advance.

Plant is being shut down, so like any company Dodge/SRT will need to have completion of the build process done by then. As noted by Tim Kuniskis last month build out is factored through March. There have been quite a few orders since then so it is not unlikely that the Viper will be sold out for production in the relatively near future. Sadil is correct, base models are in super low supply , but of course they would be higher than 85K as Dodge often posts pricing not including shipping and gas guzzler -- so add $5095. Least expensive 2017 SRT incoming or in stock is around 94K going up to 107K. There are around 27 2016s out there.

Be happy to help anyone acquire one of those if they are interested.......heh, it's my job to ask, hehe.

First post just to say that I'm loving every time you post pics, because I've got VIN #132, which is not a 1 of 1, so I'm living vicariously through you with these awesome shots of progress. I know they're not done exactly in order, but last I heard mid last week mine was going down the line, so I know they've got to be close.

    Keep it up!

Law is December 31st, 2017. All must leave factory grounds by midnight. Been this way for years for all manufacturers as they all start their new model years on different dates. All cars will be 2017s. Have been down this road with Saleen S351s and others in the past.

It is Dodge's choice of when to stop before December 31st. If they stop in August, that would be dumb and a shame. But get but orders in need now as they can only build and ship within the calendar year. No good guarantees because the law is the law.

Been answered a number of times in this thread. Nobody does nor will anyone. At some point Dodge will just close order acceptance. If you want one get the process started at least to have a reservation going.

Please don't tell me you have a limited production VIN - even if it's true I won't believe you.
we know in canada we have vins for the special editions. but that does not mean much as the cars are built all over the place.
