    Warranty - Good News?

I was speaking with a General manager of a Dodge store that owns a modded ACRE (he's on this forum I'll let him chime in if he wants). He sells tons of extended warranties, and spoke to Mopar reps about the issue. He stated that the only people who are going to have trouble with FCA over warranty issues are second, third, fourth etc. owners. "Original buyers are will be covered. Period." Were his exact words.

**To clarify. Mods are ok unless you are 2nd 3rd etc owner. A STOCK viper still has a full warranty with 2nd, 3rd etc owners.**

    A few questions:
    • I know SACA was the second owner, Was Disc a second owner?
    • Before all of this did anyone else blow a motor with arrow installed and have it replaced under warranty?
    • I am sure it will happen soon, but it will be interesting to see if a first owner with arrow PCM is covered after the engine goes. I hope they report here.

I'm a second owner, and bought an extended warranty. My car is stock, but that makes no sense.

Warranty is with the vehicle, not the owner. This makes no sense.

Couldn't have said it better. Dodge is screwing over their customers plain and simple.

Well, let's remember that the lifetime warranties offered by Chrysler some 7-9 year ago or whenever applied to the owner, not the vehicle. So this info isn't completely unbelievable. I realize that there aren't many parallels to be drawn between that example and the current viper warranty issues, but it is nonetheless something to note and be cognizant of before completely writing this claim off.

I can't fathom the logic though

Let see my car had the arrow tuner put on at the dealer when new by the original owner. If the motor blew in the thirteen months and 3200 million les he had it the motor was covered. I buy the car and have put 6000 miles on it in the four months I have owned it and it fails I have no coverage.
Yeah that sounds correct and legal. Some people believe anything they read on the internet.

How can FCA justify honoring the warranty only for the original owner? I agree, this doesn't seem to make any sense.

He is a general manager of a Dodge store. All of your comments are exactly what I said, but he insist that I should not be worried. Sells thousands of warranties and knows the right people to ask. He said Viper is different from all other Dodge cars in that regard.

I'd like to think he know's his shit, but I too am skeptical. Was just curious if anyone else heard this OR if anyone can answer my bullet-ed questions.

    Odd.

Sounds strange to me as the number of owners has no impact on the length of time the warranty goes for, which is 3 years bumper to bumper from the original in service date and 5 years for powertrain. Many 2013 owners may still even have the bumper to bumper and not even know it. Personally I was lucky to find a 2013 LE from a dealer that sold the car in 2015 so I still have 2 years of the bumper to bumper and 4 years for powertrain.

I'm the second owner of the car and have had the striker third brake light and passenger side window regulator replaced without issue. Also just bought an extended warranty.

Dodge extended warranties are transferable ONE time.

He is 100% wrong, and Disc is the original owner of his car.

    Here is a question...

If I have an extended warranty, and I have an Arrow ECM and something goes south are the rules the same as with the factory warranty?

If FCA puts your car on warranty restriction then it can get sketchy between you and your aftermarket warranty company. They look at stuff like that.

For example let's say you have a claim that FCA denies but you only have let's say 20,000 miles and your car is a 2014. The aftermarket warranty company is going to start poking around asking why FCA won't honor the warranty. Unless you have an aftermarket warranty company that covers aftermarket parts they in turn could also void the warranty.

You would have to read your find print on the contracts. It would be a very gray area and probably end up being a headache.

And if it's a Chrysler max care warranty you better believe if the car is on restriction they are going to deny all claims as well.

For some reason these dealer managers are very misinformed lately. I had a manager who swore these cars made 640 WHP not crank no matter what I tried telling him.

When I bought mine the dealer principal told me mine had 600HP and if I wanted 640HP they would chip it for me. He was positive it had 600HP until I showed him a Brochure.

I would tend to agree. I would think that if this is the policy I wouldn't of been the first person to hear about it and post here months after the concern.

For now.....waiting for that 1st owner arrow tuned engine to pop.

Well that if the 2nd, third, etc owners are not covered, that would KILL the used car market for Gen 5 (without extended warranty) IMO
