You still need to purchase 19" wheels, or 18" wheels if you do Forgeline or Finspeed.

The emergency brake caliper will bolt up so you won't have to purchase anything additional. All other parts are reused. This isn't a cheap alternative but I expect pricing to come down even further in the future. The biggest expense still is the rear knuckles. These shouldn't be this expensive but I am sure they are priced just to keep people from doing what I did.

So recap, list is $23,325 plus shipping and tax if applicable. Web price that I simply googled is $16,173.

I hope that answers some of the more specific details.

Interesting i didnt think the front knuckles was the same, from the looks of the rear knuckles it seems to me they are only slight longer pushing the caliper and ebrake out to fit a 360 vs 355 rotor? Probably could have shimmed the caliper 2.5mm or what ever the difference is, but as for the ebrake not sure what you could have dont there other than just remove it.

The emergency brake was the biggest issue for me. If this was a dedicated track car I would have just ditched the emergency brake as I never use one on the my track car. I thought the front was different but clearly it works. It is sad that the rear knuckles are needed otherwise this conversion would be on a lot more Vipers. If racing brake could make a 355 on a factory hat we would be in business

Man, it would only be $11,900 if it wasn't for needing those damn knuckles

  6. #106
Thanks Arizona! and yes the knuckles need to become a lot cheaper. Like $500-600 range like the regular spindles are.

  7. #107
Just to clarify you have posted these part numbers for the rear knuckles :

    Left Knuckle 682530698AA
    Right Knuckle 682530688AA

However I inquired and got these part numbers from a vendor :

    68253068AA
    68253079AB

which are different than what you provided, I looked online and found different part numbers for ACR rear knuckles :

    right knuckle ;

    http://www.moparpartdepot.com/p/Dodg...5290125AH.html

    left knuckle ;

    http://www.moparpartdepot.com/p/Dodg...5290124AH.html

So can you double check on the knuckles part numbers or if anyone could help with the rear knuckles part numbers needed to do this conversion for a viper ta ?

    Thanks

    Yousif

Sorry, I added an extra 6 at the end of each number. That's what I get for not paying more attention.

    Here are the correct numbers.

    68253068AA
    68253069AA

These are indeed the correct parts numbers!
I've finally gathered up all the parts to put on my '13.

Tim, let me know when you are ready to do those GTD Forgelines. I'd like to help the guy that made me buy my first Viper.

I thought I would just a glamor shot (Not like I'm any kind of photog), I have put some miles on the brake kit with NO ISSUES AT ALL! Braking is amazing, no (very little) dust is amazing and it looks killer. Now to just get some wheels from NINEBALL to drop some weight.

  13. #113
Hell ya! These should have been an option on all Vipers!

Looks awesome Tim, I love that car.

I have been running ACR CCB now and have tracked them twice. Really great braking performance however different brake feel than steel and that is known thing with ceramic brakes and I was running OEM CCB pads. I will look into different pads that I could run for better bite. A pic of my car with forgeline gtd1 in 18's

Seriously. I have no idea why in the world this wasn't an option for all Viper models. Should have been for a GTC at least.

This probably solves the bizarre "rear end wiggle" the non ACR Vipers have, since the front brakes are 6 piston.

Some member asking the CCB vs. GTS's Iron brake set up.

    1. Original GTS 4/4 pot calipers:
The bias ratio is 52.4 /47.6 % (Too much bias on rear will cause unstable braking under high speed heavy braking)
    2. New CCB 6/4 pot calipers: 60 / 40% (Improved from 4/4 pot; having the same total piston area as GTS front 4 pot but the rear was reduced), still more on front.

RB reduced bias calipers can correct the above OE situation
If matches with original front 4 pot: 65/35%
If matches with CCB 6 pot: 66.5/33.5%

For a serious track racer, a well balanced brake system is above all and is more critical than other components. However caliper replacement is not something easily available like rotor & pad replacement until now.

We are good at system analysis and offer correction and improvement only for those who has the need to achieve the optimal result.

This kit is specially designed and approved by RB just for that purpose:

Good news. We now have CCB disc @360x32mm as a result we are adding two offers:

    1. Stock rear CCB replacement for ACRE come with CCB.

    2. Rear CCB brake upgrade kit (in addition to front kit) completed with RB 4 pot (balanced bias) caliper for a 100% bolt on installation to G5 spindle and is fully compatible with OE emergency brake.

We now have a complete bolt on CCB brake upgrade kit designed specifically for G5 spindles (front and rear) at low and predicable cost, no need to figure out what to buy and swap the spindles. This was a result of our making a CCB disc @360x32mm available for the rear (same as for Ferrari F458/599 rear replacement), so you can now retain your e-brake. A better set up than G6 CCB version.

An excellent optional upgrade for G3/4/5 TA and G6 with iron option - Better performer and last a lot longer than G6 CCB.

    Think of interchangeability & flexibility?

Rotors are fully interchangeable with this popular 380/355 RB iron rotor kits
    https://www.racingbrake.com/DOD-IRP-03

Or if you have purchased RB rear balance kit you can just swap the rotors (from iron to CCB), even the brake pad on RB calipers are the same as OE.

Another brake project proudly present to Viper community by us just like our track duty brake kits (both iron and CCB) for Mustang GT350, Camaro, and Hellcat.

Will those fit under the Sidewinder II wheels?

There is no 6-piston rear brake caliper for the Viper, so yes any 4-piston setup that is available for the gen V will fit any gen V oem wheel.

Maybe I quoted the wrong post, it’s the from 6 piston caliper that I wonder about fitting inside the 18” Sidewinder II wheels.

My bad, looked like you were quoting the rear brake. The only 6 piston setup that will work with the sidewinder II is the VE big brake kit. Super tight fit too. You can get the 18" forgeline wheels specifically made for the viper, around the same weight as the SW II, but much stronger.

OE 19" wheels barely clear ACR CCB kit (390/360).

Recently released is a complete CCB kit for Demon (360/350) is made to fit OE 18" wheel and should also fit sidewinder.

The 380/350 CCB kit can fit most 18" aftermarket wheels
