Side exit exhaust on a GenII??

Has anyone seen or put side exitting exhaust on a GenII coupe? I was talking with a frind that has a GenIV and he jokingly said something about the rear exhaust. It got me thinking about it so I figured I'd put it out there to the Viper world to see if someone has done it on a production car. I'm not worried about the rear O2 sensors. That's an easy problem to fix. But would it be as easy as just swapping the side sills for a set from an older GenI and poking the pipe out the side? Any ideas?

I have side exhaust on mine 02 GTS. The exhaust was custon made to fit. The side sills were swapped out and the exhaust sticks out nicely.

Cool! I have a custom exhaust already so I'm not worried about hacking and cutting and custom fitting. Do you have any pics of it? I'd love to see what it looks like

Let me know if there is anything we can help with...we make replacement side sills for the GenI and GenII cars. We do offer a smooth GenII style sill that has side exit exhaust holes molded into the exact area of a GenI. Here is a FB link where others are showing pictures of their conversions

AutoformSteve beat me to the post. Call Autoform, ask for Steve. These guys were there from just about day one. They have done too much cool, innovative stuff for Vipers to list here. They are also good guys, straight shooters. Contact them and you won't be disappointed.

Why would you, or whoever, hack on your car? Find someone that can do the work properly bro there's no reason to accept substandard work.

    But... why?
The rear exit looks better, sounds better and there's probably less exhaust fumes inside the car.
Side exhaust just sounds like there's 1 Volvo 5 cylinder engine on each side of the car, sounds horrible.
    Just my opinion...

Gonna have to disagree with the Volvo 5 cylinder comment as I'm really partial to the 5 cylinder turbo engine; it sounds awesome. Although I'm not so familiar with the side exhaust sound, from what I've experienced it sounds good. Still, why change from the rear exit exhaust as it's special and specific to the Gen 2?! Are there necessarily more fumes though from the side exhaust? This seems somewhat hard to believe.

My Rear exhaust sounds Awesome, I purchased a set of side sills from Steve at Autoform and also have a belanger side exhaust system (new) to fit on the car, but I just can't bring myself to do it.....Yet. I like the look of the side exhaust but LOVE the rear sound!

What to do! What to do?

But that sound doesn't fit in on a high performance car like the Viper.
I think the same goes for v8 with side pipes. Either they sound mean as hell, or they sound like a Vietnamese fishing boat.
    *bom bom bom bom bom*

The majority sounds like the Vietnamese fishing boat. Think, a straight piped for Y-block.

My Belanger / cat-less / Moroso Spiral Flow side exhaust car sounds mean as f*ck. Never heard a Viper that sounds like a fishing boat lmao.

Looks great, Dave. What did you do about the rear cut-out for the stock exhaust? Pic?

Don't be offended by the jealous haters. When their own car sounds like crap they have no recourse when presented with an improvement, but to hate.
