Hi,
I have ordered an ACR-E back in April and now I'm just (im)patiently waiting for it.
The reason for me to buy a Viper is that it's been my dream car for a very long time. Back in the early 90s, I was just a young man without a clue and I saw the car in some magazine. I was born and raised in France but came to California back in 1994, and even then I was dreaming about owning one of those. Obviously, at the time I couldn't afford one but since last year that has changed
I own a 2005 Elise (another dream car of mine) which is now a track only car. While the Elise is a blast on the track, when you get blasted on the straights at Thunderhill by any Ferrari or even M3 it gets annoying quickly as you'll catch them within a couple of corners. So, I modded the car so much that it's no longer street legal. Anyway, long story short, the Elise has been spending more time at the shop than it has on the street and I wanted to buy a car that I could track without having to fiddle with it at all.
Last year, I narrowed the choice down to 3 cars which were in a similar price range: Aston Martin Vantage GT, Jaguar Type R and Viper TA.
I absolutely love the British cars but they only come with an auto and I hate that.
Earlier this year, I considered the Mustang GT350R (my daily driver is a Focus ST, which is a ton of fun) and if I hadn't gotten the deal I wanted on the ACR-E, I would have bought that instead.
Last year, Dodge announced the ACR and it was a game changer for me, so I decided to get that.
Went one of the few dealership in the SF bay area that is certified to sell the Viper (they're on Capitol Expressway) and talked to the only sales person would could discuss the Viper and I also talked to the co-owner of the dealership. I configured the car the way that I wanted, basically a bare bone ACR with the Extreme package. I initially wanted the Yorange but I realized that it wasn't the same as the TA2.0 Yorange so I opted for the competition blue, which makes the Viper look like Papa Smurf's car...
I've been stalking these forums for a while now and I realized that there is a concierge service which I didn't know about before. Unfortunately, the dealership never mentioned until a couple weeks ago when I reached out to the co-owner because I wanted to know where the car was at. I'm kind of sad that I didn't know about this because it would have been cool to see pictures of the car as it was being built. Is there a URL that I can go to and register so that I may be able to see the history of the car? or is there a phone number for the concierge service that I can call? If that info is supposed to be top secret, I would love a PM providing me the info.
Dude at the dealership told me that the car was ready to be shipped on July 6th but it was in limbo as of two weeks ago. The same dude is not around at this time (most likely in vacation) so I have zero way of knowing what's going on. Don't know if the car is on its merry way or not...
While I'm not in a hurry since I still have to finish putting the Lotus back into street legal form and sell it (no space in my garage for two cars really) I'm curious to know when I'll be able to pick up the car and I'm anxious and excited at the same time, so being in the dark just kills me...
