    Service Electronic throttle body control

Just received this error message. I'm running the heads cam stage ll package. How should I trouble shoot that?

Edit : Hmm after a 30 minute shutdown the code hasn't come back. Must have been an issue with the ecu and the way the car started. It was a slow start. I'll monitor I suppose.

The guy who bought my TA in Germany had this problem. He ended up swapping out the PCM for a new one and threatened to sue me if I didn't pay half of his $6500 repair bill. I'm still waiting to hear from his lawyer.

What were the conditions when you saw the message?

Ugh wtf. I can't imagine this being a 6500$ repair. I mean how? I tried to start the car and it failed almost like a weak battery. I restarted fine and the code was present but driving was fine. That was the condition I would guess led to the code. It is a message that says in my thread title and flashes like a red hazard type sign on my ip.

I did shut down and restart but got the same error but again could drive just fine to my destination, which prompted this thread. However after a 30 minute car meet the code went away. There were no issues with driving or throttle. I'd guess the failed start of the vehicle threw the code from the ecu. I mean there is no connector to the throttle right? So it would be controlled by my modified ecu. I would think work on the ecu would be the intervention not getting 6500 in work done? Now I'd love to hear from more mechanically inclined people on this because that sounds ludicrous.

Well looking further into it, it can be a small issue on startup with a battery wire not grounded or many other reasons. Many chargers and Rams have some issues with this. I guess if the car goes into an almost undriveable state then it can be as serious as engine failure. So I'm not sure what that buyer experienced but it potentially looks costly in some instances. I don't know why that would involve you selling a used car as is though. For me, I hope this was just a bad startup that caused a misfire.

I know last winter, when my car had sat for 6 weeks in hibernation mode (no tender) it took four attempts before she lit, I guess due to the battery in a weakened state. I was expecting a CEL for that reason, but nothing. Years ago, on my SRT8, I had a similar starting issue on my SRT8, with the ETC sign flashing. Never recurred again. Computer blip? Hopefully, that's what yours is. Just monitor the situation, and if it recurs, have a Viper tech take a look.

Surprisingly, there are people who are suspicious that people who sell cars in the US sometimes sell them knowing that there are known issues but not disclosing them. We all know that this is really hard to believe about Americans; but, there are overseas buyers that are even more suspicious.

Ok...I don't know why that would involve "as is." Buyers responsibility to do due diligence afaik not the sellers. Known issues or not.

Thanks swexlin. I just did two startups and no etc code. The car turns over a bit slow. The car is three years old but the battery registers around 14.2 after its turned over so I am just going to continue to monitor as it appears to be related to the failed start only one time.

Terminator - I had this happen to me once in my ACR. Stalled car and the Service Electronic throttle body control warning came on. Power was cut too for a bit. Was really hard to restart. Brought it home and shut down, cleared code and it never came back. Absolutely was caused by the stall and probably had to just clear itself. Car ran fine after that.

Your battery voltage is good, what is slow to start, how long? These cars can sometimes crank a couple seconds before they light. While replacing the battery wouldn't hurt, I don't think that's the issue here. Just my opinion.

Note that 14.2 volts is the output voltage of the alternator under load; and is not a direct indication of battery voltage or it's health.
A fully charged battery should measure around 12.6V or maybe a little bit higher without a heavy current load.

Spoke with Arrow. Not a big deal nor the old p0606 code. It's not uncommon to have that error with the throttle happen and it will reset itself normally after six cycles. I changed my oil filter just for good measure and there was no visible specks or debris. Added half quart. Oil is good. Car is good. Thanks everyone.

The buyer said the car would go into limp mode with the same CEL message when the car hit 200kph. He would turn the car off and restart the car without issue. As soon as he hit 200kph again, it went into limp mode again. He showed me his invoice for a new PCM and numerous other things for over $4000 euro and then said he spent over $6000 euro total to get the car running again.

The latest PCM update from FCA would have fixed the limp mode issue on its own... cost $0
