    Lightweight Gen II Hood

Im sure all Gen II owners are aware that our stock hoods weigh a ton. There are very few options out there today to swap them out. So I thought I would ask here.

Does anyone on the board have any leads on a lightweight Gen II hood for sale?

I really like the diamondback hood and realize its a rare find now.. I would be willing to pay a premium if anyone has one, and gladly swap with my OEM if needed.

I spoke with Steve @ autoform who produces the GTS-R style light weight hoods and unfortunately he does not keep them in stock and takes 4 weeks or so to produce. i'm planning on taking this route if I don't locate something sooner.

Also has anyone weighed the stock hood?
Whats the lightest Gen II hood out there and what does it weigh?

    Thanks,
    Rohan

I actually like the diamondback hood as well, not sure it's a bunch lighter than OEM though. I'd love a real Carbon hood like the Gen V that looks and fits with OEM strength and quality. I wouldn't do a exposed carbon fiber hood, unless it was OEM.

I'm surprised too that there isn't a CF OEM style hood for these cars. Especially with the number of people that track their cars.

Just looked up the diamondback hood. That thing is awesome. Kind of sucks just now getting into the Gen 2 world now. Seems like all the cool products that I would want are no longer made. I'll add this hood to that list as well as most of the MGW parts that were made.

I have a spare GTSR style racing hood that I'd willing to part with. Where are you located as the hood would have to be crated up for shipment.

Steve had talked about reproducing the Diamondback style hood. That would be an epic accomplishment to achieve the needed fit and finish on a part that big and important though. If it was off at all it would be a no go.

I sent an email with no response yet. The site was last updated in 2010. So unsure if these guys are still in business.

I'm interested also in replacing my GEN1 hood with a GEN2 hood. But they are pretty expensive stuff.
