How to tell a real ACR

    Hello,

I'm looking at a 1999 GTS ACR and want to know how you tell if it's a real ACR? VIN#?

    Thanks in advance!

You can't tell by the vin number, just look for the equipment that is unique to an ACR

I just tried the following instructions that were posted in an older thread and it worked for a 2002 ACR currently on eBay:
Replace the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX with your vin in the following text, and then copy and paste the url into your browser window:

    dodge.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The resultant build sheet pdf showed optional equipment including: Competition Group, 5 Point Restraint Driving Belts, Competition Suspension, Delete Fog Lamps, Low Restriction Air Cleaner, 18" Aluminum Silver Wheels, Dash Plaque

This is actually incorrect information. The VIN is exactly how you can determine if it's a real ACR. Steve-Indy is correct.

The 1969 Camaro Z-28 is a perfect example of that.

I tried the URL for the build sheet and it worked. Now I know that my 98 RT/10 originally came with a 10 speaker system from the factory!... LOL

This is correct, but I have found that unless you own the actual car, dealers won't check the vin for you.Could just be the crappy dealer where I live.

Thats what I was going to point out! Viper Jeff has a wealth of build info... Check with him if you are getting serious about a specific car
Use the Report a post feature... It works!

Since the new guy might not understand the implications of the above post, I will say it explicitly.

ViperJeff has gone to great lengths to put together a website of information about the build history of Vipers.

It can be found here: http://www.theviperregistry.org/

You will find a VIN decoder there, and sure enough, the VIN does not have a digit that indicates the AACR model, and there is no listing of ACR-specific VINs that I could find.
If concerned about a faked ACR, the only two ways I know of verifying is through the build sheet web site posted above, or having a dealer run a report which I would guess accesses the same data base. Jeff would know for sure.

I have used Jeff's site many times, and certainly appreciate it !!!

Thanks again everyone for the great information! After seeing the car yesterday and talking with the sellers I have no doubt it's real. The sellers are good people.

    Let me clarify

theviperregistry belongs to the Viper Club and is not mine. My list is somewhere else. Dodge has a portal that allows VIN lookups and is the best source for build sheets, recall info and you must know the 17 digit VIN, I dont share the address. Dealers have that access, if they say they don't, there pricks.

Each year that access has changed, even read we're it may be limited at some point.

The only ACR specific VIN is 2016, but that does not include 1 of 1 ACR's

oops. My error. I drew the wrong conclusion about what you & VG were referring to above, and your association with it.

Yea, the only thing I will be doing with the IVR is bringing it current this fall. Not sure if it will ever include 2017.
