Vette has a very cool cam/data recorder for the track

This would be very cool if the new Vipers had this

I love it. It's going to be convenient for track days..

Mods, can we merge this with the other 'Vette telemetry thread?

    Thanks.

As I see it , just a small add on toy. I am sure within a year or so an aftermarket all in one unit that you can attach to any windshield to any car will eventually be released to the aftermarket. Then you can just add it to the Viper. Nice toy, but nothing groundbreaking. Just a small update to keep the base Corvette fresh in 2015. Garmin just released a dash cam themselves.

This is something I would LOVE on the Viper. I've used a couple of lap timers with similar functionality. Often there are glitches, unrecorded laps. A seamlessly integrated camera and data recorder would be huge. I would take that over a bump in HP, believe it or not. Take that, HP bench racers! I kid, I kid.

Frame rate (hopefully 30 fps+) and GPS rate dependent (sounds like it might be at least 5 Hz, which is OK)... could be a nice feature.

GoPro needs to partner with someone to build a true HD camera + GPS/accelerometer/OBDII motorsport datalogger. Nobody touches their video quality and configurability.

There have been many aftermarket great cam systems with integration. I have used many of them in race cars for years. The cool part to this is Corvette is the first manf. That I know that thought enough about their car on the track to include it as a factory option. It good to have competition that has really stepped up there game.

Looks like we may get your wish. Go Pro is in talks with Cosworth (manufacturer of the system for GM) to come up with an aftermarket system for the rest of us. Found this info in an article on Motor Authority.
