"Official" Response from Michelin re: Tires

Know it has been discussed before, but wanted to hear the story from Michelin themselves. Looks like the tires are not discontinued, but not scheduled for production. Assume this will be like some of the other limited demand tires they produce, they will just run a batch every so often....

Any other insight? My challenge is I am needing new tires soon...

Regarding out previous conversation, the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 in the size 335/35ZR17 is on a back order. Currently, there is no production dates on the tire. Since we are only able to check up to four weeks in advance, we don't know when this tire might become available.

I did want to reassure you that this tire is not discontinued and there are no plans as of now for it to be discontinued.

Production dates can vary from week to week; if you would like to keep updated, you can call us back and just reference your case number.

We hope that your issue has been resolved or addressed to your satisfaction. If we can assist you further, please respond to this email or call us at 866-866-6605 (toll-free) between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday or between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. EST on Saturday.

We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Michelin.

    Sincerely,

Great news that they are not disco (thanks for sharing) but I'd think the actual product manager would have a better idea if it's weeks, months or years until the next build.

Tirerack is showing Pirelli P Zero System tires in 335/35 17 being available end of August. There isn't a 275 but a 285/45 17 in stock. Just happened to find them searching by size.

That is good news for us who actually like the stock 17" wheels and want to keep the factory look. As said above, maybe some digging further to a product manager would give us some sort of ETA. Give it a shot and see what you can come up with.

For those interested. I found a supplier with about 20 of these rear tires (recent date code). Fronts can be found at Tire Rack.
Shoot me a PM if you need rears, I most likely will get them all.

Last I remember, I thought Michelin produced these about once a year, normally around August timeframe

That might be true, actually. When I bought my 96 GTS from a Dodge dealer late last July, they said they would put new tires on it, among other things to get it "perfect". They had an unbelievably hard time finding tires and I finally got the car delivered to me at the start of September. They mentioned the delay was caused by the tires.

I just wish they would continue with the 18" tires. I really don't want to be forced to buy a race tire for the car!
