Is there suppose to be a magnetic drain plug in the rear differential?
I thought that was a standard thing but mine were not.
The fill plug was recessed like it could have a magnet there... but nothing.

They are not factory installed , but can be added . It's a great idea and have done it on all my cars .
I install neodium magnets with thick superglue on all my plugs. I also use a large one stuck to the outside of oil filter. Been doing the magnet thing form20 some years.

As others said, not on the factory plug.
Does anyone know where to buy an off the shelf magnet that can be glued to the plug without any modifications?
What size do I need (I dont want to take the plug out just to measure it)?
I'm pretty sure it's the same size as other Dana 44 plugs - my Jeep has factory magnetic drain plugs on both the front and rear diff, and I'd wager that there's a good chance they're the same. When it comes time to change the fluid, I'll measure the diameter and thread pitch and see (assuming nobody else offers up an off the shelf solution in the meantime).
