O'Reilly's sold them the last time I checked. Advance Auto appears to carry them too.

Junkman turned me onto the Wagner thermo quiet pads a few years back on my 2004 viper. After purchasing My sidewinder 2 for my Gen V, I used opti seal on them before new tires even went on. Then installed the thermo quiets and virtually no brake dust at all. Yes, I still get the road dust on them but the opti sealed wheel literally gets hosed off and blow dried, and look good as new. Yes, I still pull them off in the winter for a true cleaning and reapplication of the opti seal for fun. I do not track the car, but if I did the oem pads are there for the swap out.

Good to hear that they are working out for you.

I have three brushes I use in combination with wheel cleaning product. I use a speed master wheel brush for the barrels and around the brakes, a regular wheel brush for the face, and the 8 inch wheel woolie brush for the small areas.

Brushes, no matter how soft scratch so I don't use them anywhere outside of the car.

I've only used a sponge with soap and water so far. I've got the Sidewinder II Hyper Black wheels which are a pain to clean as others have described here. Aside from removing and doing a thorough cleaning periodically, can I assume a non-acid wheel cleaner will be ok for the barrels and wheel face?

Are the wheels painted and clear coated or is the paint exposed?

Guess I'm cheating. I had a couple of these laying around from when our youngest was still bottle feeding. Works great for me.

There is no paint on these wheels. I'm not sure if they're clear coated or not.

In that case, yes to your initial question.

Ive changed up my game for cleaning the wheels.

    I hose the wheel down.

Spray liberally with Girots wheel cleaner. Then i use my 2,000 psi pressure washer on the wheels. Works absolutely perfectly. The pressure washer cleans the "barrel" portion of the wheel and the caliper to perfection, no brushing required.

I don't even hold the pressure washer nozzle very close to the wheel. The Girots stuff is pretty gentle and doesn't burn your lungs if you breathe it in.

I've got the Sidewinder II's, so I FEEL your pain. I spray them with a detail spray, wipe them clean with micro fiber. I go it before I put the cover back on it when it sits as to keep the cover as clean as I can. Takes about 5min a wheel to clean them quick where i'm satisfied.

So is there a recommended spray wheel cleaner that's safe for painted wheels?

I am about to give Ferrex from Optimum a spill. That stuff removes dirt and grime like nobody's business. It's crazy how good it works. Optimum says that it is safe on paint but I want to see that for myself.

Speedmaster Jr wheel brush (I like the larger one too)

    http://www.autogeek.net/daytona-spee...r-brushes.html

P21S Total Auto Wash (by far the best APC for undercarriage/door jambs; etc.) Get the big jug and extended trigger sprayer. I've tried a million different cleaners but this is only one that really works on everything.

Assuming you remove the wheels and super-clean them off the car FIRST. Then give them a light polishing/FULL cleaning; follow with a good coating like Gyeon CanCoat (or any of the ceramic coatings really but it's easy to use when you're a little impatient with intricate wheels LOL)

After cleaning & coating; you can basically just wash them and they'll come clean.

Sure, low dust pads can help but that also leads to diminished braking capacity for 'sporty' occasions.

IRON-X also works well for decontamination.
