I have the Torrie tune set at 91 octane and push the tow mode button (which turns off overdrive,4th) whenever there's any load on it like slight inclines. I tow an all aluminum enclosed trailer that weighs 6300 lbs fully loaded. What's also cool is I took the truck to the drag strip and it ran 13.9 in the quarter, beat my son in his 350z! I'm sure you will enjoy your viper truck with the exception of the gas mileage, it's a guzzler!
Trailer is 6300 with the Viper on it? That's a pretty light enclosed trailer.

Yeah, I took it to a scale to get it weighed so I could check the tongue weight.
It was actually 6200 lbs loaded trailer alone and 5460 lbs hooked up so 740 lbs tongue weight.
Since the srt10 Rams only have a 7500 lb tow rating I got an aluminum frame trailer to keep the weight down.

I have a ram Hemi but it's a half ton so it doesn't have a super high tow capacity. Only 8600 lbs. I know today's trucks are overengineered and you can push them past their official rating. But I don't like to do that. I personally think you shouldn't tow at max capacity, even though many people go over it and get away with it. I feel that's asking for trouble. So saving weight in a trailer like that is huge.

Looks like a hell of a trailer too in terms of size and fittingn everything you need. I'd feel plenty good towing at 3/4 capacity.

Now just need some decals or a wrap so everyone knows you have a Viper inside ; )

Couldn't agree more, so many people think that if the truck can pull something, it is safe. Lots of dangerous rigs out there with car trailers and campers.

You got that right. One of the key things people forget is brakes. Without a diesel and an exhaust brake, you can cook your half ton brakes pretty quick. And of course there is always the tail wagging the dog situation. I've seen that with these powerful new Cherokees. They have a lot of motor so people pull a crazy amount of weight with them but that thing could start to harmonize on them or go into a death roll.

Yep they are thirsty beasts. When my truck was automatic i managed about 9mpg city and 12 highway. Now that I converted it to a T56 I get 14 city and 20 highway.

Ben, to reiterate: The diminished tow rating of only 7500 lbs is due to fears of low-octane detonation under load. 93 octane [or booster] is good insurance and increased towing capacity.

100% ! You gotta use load-leveler-anti-sway bars, for a much safer tow. In the mountains they are a huge confidence builder/ fear-reducer. Flat-landers have NO IDEA how important those bars are for short-wheelbase safety when towing curvy inclines.

Hey Jonb, Thanks for the info! I'll start running octane booster when I tow. I do run the weight distribution/anti sway hitch too, feels more stable and connected with the trailer.
