What's your current suspension setup?
MCS Suspension (Stage 1), new Pilot Sport PS2 tires, Woodhouse engine/tranny mounts and upgraded IPSCO transmission crossmember completely ended my wheel hop issues for good.
What he said.
although... tires are often the biggest culprit.
Motor and trans mounts

Thanks for the tips. Other than the upgraded suspension, the rest sounds relatively inexpensive to replace. I've also read that old suspension bushings can be culprits...

How old are your tires and what pressures are you running?
Woodhouse mounts and Ipsco trans mount, for what its worth I also changed to the Ipsco Billet Trans mount crossmember too
But, just a question do you have any clutch issues? Is the wheel hop happening as you lift off the clutch? if so It might be a problem in that area?
Another thing to check is to get under the car and visually inspect all UJs by rocking the Halfshafts and rotating the wheels in each direction. They are probably fine but worth checking.
you just need to slow down slow poke
The engine mounts in our cars seem to be the same as the 1989-1993 Dodge Pickup with Cummins diesel engine. You can locate the mounts for less than half what others ask for it. Stainless steel bodies as well. Once my existing mounts go... I'll be swapping to those.

My 97 is mostly stock, but does have upgraded motor and trans mounts. This along with new ps2's means I don't have any wheel hop![]()
Hey Dan, thanks for chiming in. I'm running 32 psi in my passenger rear tire and 30 psi in rear drivers side to be exact. I've also attached a pic....is this the month and year? 07 of 2003? If so these things are old! Pardon the road rash on the rim grrr
Also they are Pilot Sports not PS2 as I previously thought

Start with changing the tires, that will take care of 90% of the wheel hop. Those tires are 13 years old and hard as hockey pucks!
Dan
OEM for OEM there is no advantage because the stock Viper mounts don't cost all that much. If they are in fact exactly the same, the advantage is that urethane truck mounts are common and much cheaper than the Viper mounts from Woodhouse. I remember a thread on the VCA some years ago where people were trying truck poly mounts, and they needed a spacer or something. I don't remember the exact details, but I don't remember it being an exact swap.
Dan thanks for helping me get to the bottom of this. I never would have thought the tires were that old....they still have the little rubber nubs and hardly any wear!
Btw, what do you think of the pressures I'm running? 30 -32 psi. The tires maximum pressure is 51 psi
Thanks,
SP
