    Introduction of CT Viper enthusiast

Hello fellow Viper lovers my name is David and I am addicted to the viper. When I was in my mid teens the show Viper was on TV and I loved the car and the show (although watching it again the acting was pretty bad) in 1996 while looking for hotwheels for my brother in law I came across a green viper rt/10 and purchased it for myself. I began seeking out other vipers and buying them the rest is history 17 years and 1600 different small scale vipers later I have amassed one of largest small scale diecast viper collections. My goal is to one day purchase the real thing but for now it's not in the cards since my oldest of 5 children will be in college in 4 years. My favorite Viper is a 2001 GTS Sapphire Blue with Silver stripes and I hope one will be available when I get to the point in my life where I can buy one.

Here is a picture of me shortly after getting a model I had been searching years for.

There is a group of diecast viper collectors that meet each year for a BBQ to trade, discuss and enjoy a day together in the CT area. We have had the BBQ in CT, NJ and PA. There is usually a small group of 6 collectors (two of which are viper owners) who come out for the BBQ. If anyone here is interested let me know and I will give you a heads up when the date and location of the next one is set. Here are some pics of a few of the BBQs.

And if you are interested in reading about this past years event there is thread on the matchbox forum

    Thanks, David

Welcome David and that's an impressive collection/hobby you got there. PM me your address and I'll send you something for your collection. If you'd like some Vipers to come out for the BBQ let us know. But be warned: We're eaters.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Tony if the BBQ is in CT again this year I'll take you up on the Viper offer and no problem with being big eaters my wife tends to make way too much food and I think it's pretty good! To get a second opinion ask Kurt. The years we had the BBQ in NJ there has been a viper present as it was at a viper owners house.

Awesome story David, welcome to the VOA!

I am a former diecast collector (anything and everything, not just Vipers) - I quit collecting a while back and have been slowly moving pieces out of my collection by selling or giving away. Keeping all of my Viper pieces though (quite a few). Most of my collection is 1:64 but I have a lot of Vipers in 1:18 as well.
