So.....what's the 96 GTS market looking like this year?

The car has turned 20 and is eligible for vintage/historic tags in many states across the USA, have we seem a bump in values?
I have a B/W 96 GTS I bought and am thinking I might turn around and sell it this year to help fund a house purchase.....it is this...or my 68 Mustang Shelby Clone....and I'm trying to determine which one may have peaked in value for now.

I recently purchased one with 1,200 miles here in CA. Seller had it listed on craigslist for a long time, he began at $65,000. Paid $51,500. It may be worth as much as $55,000. While miles don't equate to a better car, some would argue just the opposite, low miles do help value on these, especially if properly cared for.

I'm sitting at 23k (miles) but car has had some work done to it (accident in history)...not a salvage title or anything....but carfax shows accident history. And the AC stopped working again

Well, I guess if you end up with a better/bigger garage; that, might be an OK idea.

If you have the original wheels it will add about 1-3k to the value. Most buyers are not interested in modified cars. If you have them available but not mounted, that helps too but buyers would still look at it as something they have to pay to have mounted and purchase of new tires.

Actually.....for the short term it will be a MUCH MUCH smaller garage. I have a 2050 sq ft garage right now and some of my stuff will sit outside until I get the funds together to build another one

Nope...car didn't come with the original wheels....I never thought about it because I love the aftermarket CCW wheels on it. 335 18 and 275 18

I could argue it is a clone of a Shelby Daytona .....one of the reasons I bought it.

When I first saw the '96, that's what it reminded me of as well. As far as your Mustangs,I thought I had quite a few, Nice Collection

Not sure what you paid and, while I'm no expert but seems without carfax history would be a $40K car, accident history can ding values about 10%. Hopefully someone else can give you a more knowledgeable estimate as to it's worth. Wheels can be a negative to a person wanting originality, otherwise shouldn't hurt, wish I had them on mine and store my originals.

    Based on the pictures...

    If under 10k miles
    42-45k

    If under 20k miles

    38-42k

    If over 30k miles
    33-38k

    If in a major accident

    Subtract 2-5k

    If corrosion in the metal
    subtract 3k

Then there is the clutch, tire condition, etc...

As pictured, assuming no negatives, and assuming 20k miles

Right at 40k because of the aftermarket wheels.

    Car has 23,444 miles.
Brand new tires will less than 100 miles on them.
    Clutch has no issue
New rotors/pads just put on with less than 100 miles as well
No rust...photos of underside included in the ad I put out for it
Accident required hood work....so all insurance companies call it major...but it wasn't....and the hood was fixed (per previous owner)
    AC looses charge
Interior has no rips tears or even wear signs.
    No spare tire
New battery within last 9 months, since on trickle charger at all times

Tires need to be less than 6 years old. I have some 2006 copperhead tires and the original front tires from my 2001Viper. BUT, HP tires are only good for 6 years after they get aired up. They have a date (week/year) branded into them on one side. Tread doesn't matter, nor mileage. Old and hard causes a lot of accidents with these cars.

The original 96 wheels were CAST and had a tendency to cracking the spokes. mid 97 they upgraded to Forged wheels which is what's come on every viper since then.

'96 wheels problems were minimal, and isolated to cars that were tracked.

So what's the general consensus about the 96 and 97s B/W GTS? Do you think they'll see a significant increase in value?

everyone i speak with or that calls me can find these 96's & 97's for pennies on the dollar.
Last guy i spoke with told me he can by sub 10K mileage 96's and 97's for low 30's everyday. I asked him where
these cars were at, he could not or would not tell me....I'm an original owner of my 96GTS, i will
sit on her until someone one wants to buy at 58,725. You all can blast me if you want but it is
what it is....Also have a 1998 GTS R under 1k Miles that i would not let go for less than 128K,
2006 VOI non prefix / arrow car 6 miles on the odometer, few race cars, and a FGT are all yours
    if your interested.
