    New motor problems

Ok, guys, I track my car a few times a year. Before I got my new motor the car NEVER got over 220*. Heat was not even a concern. It never even crossed my mind.
After the new motor install, I took the car out on tracks I have done before with not heat issues whatsoever, and within a few laps the car would run high 230's, low 240's and I would intermediately shift to a high gear and do a soft lap and exit the track.
EVERY time I've come off the track the car will SHUT OFF and die and puke coolant because the coolant temp will jump up when the car dies. I'll have to sit 10 minutes or so before the car will start again. I've taken the car back to the dealership 3-4 times since this problem started and they have said they think they found the problem. Then I go to the track again and the same exact thing happens without fail. This last weekend I did a night event. First session I had to pull off after a few laps, same as usual. Car died in the hot pits. Then next session, same thing after a handful of laps car was high 230's, I pulled off, and even worse this time, the car would not even shut off. Dash was going crazy. Coolant and dash temps were jumping from 32* to 419* over and over. The lower dash just said "NO BUS". Every track event I do is pure 100% misery instead of fun like the other 100 cars that are there. I don't know what else to do. I just want a car that I can track more than a few laps without having to pull off. I'm a Viper lover, I own 5 and just bought a new ACR tjhat is en route, but if I cant do more than a few laps with one, where do I go from here? Every track event I do there are 600+ rwhp Vette's that are as fast or faster than me and these guys tell me when they hit 225* that it scares them. LOL! Can Dodge just make it so I can do more than a few laps without overheating? I've already spent a small fortune on worthless stuff like Arrow waterpump, solid upper radiator hose, ETC. This has ruined EVERY track event that I've tried to do in the last year. I have not completed a normal HPDE track event with this car since the new motor.

What would you guys do at this point? Is the car a lemon?

It it's still under warranty get Chrysler involved again. There's definitely something wrong with that cooling system.

I believe the other gentleman here who got a new motor recently is having overheating problems as well, but on the street. Hope you get it resolved soon, especially as a fellow '13 Track Pack owner. However, I'd say if you an a new ACR en route, the point my be moot. Get it resolved, and retire the Track Pack car to street duty.

First off, your new motor is tight and need to be broken in properly. It sounds like someone doesn't know how to properly bleed to cooling system. I'd also try a 90/10 water ratio as you are in arizona and don't need coolant.

"NO BUS" Would mean no CAN bus, that would explain your gauges going crazy. Sounds like there is at least one electrical issue going on. This could be a loose connector, bad ground, damaged wire, etc. Don't know if this is related to the cooling issues or not.

That (burping) seems to fit the scenario and haste makes waste.

The dealer mechanic thinks it's a melted wiring harness, as he's seen that before. Many here have had it happen as well. We had everything thermal wrapped. Not sure what else we can do.

Seriously, start looking for another dealer. There are issues with your car, look for another dealer and get Chrysler involved. I doubt this is a true "overheating" issue, obviously something did not go back together correctly when the new motor was put in or the original motor would have created the same symptoms.

You probably have multiple issues, a damaged harness, bad connectors/connection, air in the system, etc. I don't think it's just one issue, but multiple issues caused by human error on the installation of your latest motor.

Did I mention getting Chrysler involved?....it's not your problem, it's theirs if the car is still under warranty. Let them handle it and document the downtime in case this goes towards a lemon law direction.

Assuming that he is taking it to EM, you could not find a better Viper Tech anywhere; only possibly one with more experience specifically with Gen V issues; but, not around here.

Agree, I believe a second opinion is warranted. Perhaps give Mark J at Woodhouse a call? Or Morgan at VE? Couldn't hurt.
