    Garage lifts

    hey guys

    Does anybody have this lift?

    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bp...FVA8gQodmDMEPg

I am shopping for a lift right now. The reason i picked that one is because:

    1. Not too expensive
    2. The ceilings in my workshop are only 10 feet high
    3. I don't have to drill into the floor
    4. I can move it around from side to side or whatever position I need.

I like the idea of this lift. What do yall think? The heaviest vehicle that will go on teh lift is my SRT10 RAM and that's like 5300 lbs. I don't think my Lincoln is that heavy so weight isn't a consideration right now.

    thanks

    It's 4.75" lowered.

Should have plenty of clearance for any stock height Viper.

Or drive onto a 2x4 and then you have the height you want to clear the lift.

Bendpak makes one like that but it doesn't go high enough. That looks like 24"

    I want 48" at least.

I have mdx6p, great lift and mobile, you will need to get the race ramps to get your car up. Can do almost all maintenance work, but forget about to trying to get a tranny out.

Link for the ramps : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00QL...ALL&ref=plSrch

But a stock height Viper should clear just fine right? Ground clearance on a Viper is 5" .... hmm that is pretty close huh. Prolly drive onto some 2x4's if i get it.

    I have this one:
    http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/At...rage-Pro-8-000

The only thing I'm sorry about is I didn't spend the extra money on the taller one. But I use it for storage mainly, and for service as well.

I had my 4 post lift installed in my last garage that only had 10 foot ceilings. It works great, doesn't need to be bolted down, comes with casters to move it around, and can fit a full size car under it with a low car like the Viper on top.

I've since moved it to my new garage with 14 foot ceilings. As soon as I bought the thing, I immediately asked myself why I waited so long. And driving onto the ramps is no issue.

I also have have a 4 post lift. You can easily park two vipers in the same foot print with a 10 ft ceiling.

if you have the space, it is hard to beat the easy on, easy off of a 4 post lift.

Just lower the car onto jack stands. The ramps drop down and the car, supported by the stands, stays up. When I first got my lift, I bought 4 super tall stands... Easy to support the car while swapping wheels at a comfortable height. Mine are 14 years old now and that brand is long gone, but there are plenty of other brands currently available. If you do go the tall stand route, get really good ones with stable, wide bases. Otherwise, you can use small stands for tire work, and pretty well everything else is east to do while the car is parked on the ramps. It's super easy. Bonus... If, like me, you had a double garage you now have a triple. I bought a taller door so I didn't have to worry as much about it hitting the car when it was on the lift. Plus, I always back on so, when open, the garage door sits above the hood. Ten feet of clearance is plenty for a Viper and regular car, but my wife's SUV does not fit under the ramps.

A 2 post lift is way better for working on the car. I have a Mohawk A7 and it's fantastic. You can store a car on it just fine, though the suspension will be at full droop which is not ideal.

This looks awesome and is a great price. However, I'd be so paranoid of it failing and crushing my car after some time.

    beat me to it..

I have done this over the years and it works perfect. lower the car right onto the stands.

A 4 post lift is really the only way to go. I store 2 vipers on one foot print, as others have said.. So the above would not work for me. But it looks like a nice product...

I've had a backyard buddy and direct lift. They are both good products.

Ya, a bridge trolly jack is a nice touch for a 4 post, but it's usually 50% of the price of the lift itself. Never thought of jackstands to be honest, do most of my wheel work on the floor.....

You dont even have to do this. ^

I have a lift jack that slides up and down the center of the lift. It has adjustable arms with which i can lift either the entire front of the car off the lift ramps, the entire rear of the car......or if im really feeling froggy, the whole car (not advisable).
