I'm tempted to buy you a new regulator so you can have the freedom of 1 touch down...

For those who have ordered these will be shipping Tuesday or Wednesday. The kits are ready I just need to complete the installation instructions. I installed them tonight with the window in the car, it isn't too bad of a job.

Looking forward to receiving mine! Tired of waiting for the glass to fall every time I close the door. In anticipation of having the doors off again, I bought extra tabs. I broke two last time I had the panel off to tighten the stock pieces up. Thanks for making these! I was trying to figure out something to fix this, but I wouldn't have never come close to a design like yours!

My window just got stuck down.... looks like I'll be needing this too. Ordered... ugh. Thanks so much for fabricating the fix. I hate taking my car in.

Mine is at the dealer getting the passenger side fixed for this issue right now. I lowered it and when it didn’t come back up I took a closer look and sure enough the window had fallen down. My dealer showed my the broken part and said they’re having a replacement shipped in tomorrow.

So are they gonna replace it with another shitty part or are they gonna use these one's?

Factory plastic. It’s under warranty so they’re sticking with what they got. But I did show them Doug’s design and recommended they stock up on some for future out of warranty fixes.

My windows go up and down fine, however the driver side has a lot more play in the glass with door open when I grab the window by the top tip and move it back and forth (side to side) . The driver side seems loose where the passenger side is tight. I also hear some glass shatter as I close the door since the glass is loser on the driver side.
Are these parts the issue on my case, or is there anything else on the window assembly that creates the tightness on the window glass from side to side that I'm missing?

Hard to say until you open the door up but if one or more of these are broken you’d have those symptoms. There are 3 points where the glass connects, these two and the front which snaps into the regulator. I don’t want to say 100% there is nothing else to cause the issue, I can evaluate when I have time to get into my door again.

Edit: from the details in your PM it seems like the black plastic piece has indeed broken and the window is being loosely held by the bolt.

I noticed the part number changed for the gen 3/4 regulator, I'm guessing they have changed them over to the gen V?

If this is the case and they change over I guess I may need a kit??

And just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, the gen 3/4 issues with the regulator failing is a different issue as on the gen v?

In for info for extra tabs to have on hand "in case" and a new regulator for the one touch down.

Links or part numbers would be helpful

Got mine yesterday along with my new longer rear diffusor strakes from DSE!

    Thanks Doug!

Yes I think all the regulators are now one P/N the Gen V part. I'm not sure if the new regulator is bulletproof or not but I think it seems to be better than it was?

I'm not sure if the failures of the regulators are related to these parts. the Gen III and IV design of this part seems slightly more robust than the Gen V version but still has weaknesses. I could see these breaking causing extra strain on the regulator due to bad window alignment and perhaps causing that to fail but from memory people had just replaced the regulator on the older gens.

These parts in the Gen V though are very weak, it really doesn't take too much for them to break due to various reasons.

What are the part numbers for the door panel clips that usually break during panel disassembly?
Car is under warranty , but I hate taking to the dealer , will consider doing this instead.
    TIA.

No clips for a Gen V, the door panels are a little easier to deal with than the previous gens. Thanks to all who ordered, have a few more kits left and then will be November before I have more.

    Thanks

Received my order yesterday and installed them today. For those that are on the fence about it, I’d recommend it! All four of the stock black pieces were brittle and cracked through, all the stock nuts had broken off too. 787BF459-F531-4AFD-A8AA-633FFE89DFB1.jpg

I managed to break on clip or whatever they’re called. I bought 10 replacements just in case and replaced it no problem. I took a picture of the bag they come in, the part number is on it. BA1AD960-91A0-4D8F-8770-E67A470CEF70.jpg

It’s such a nice piece of mind to just be able to shut the door and not worry about my window falling down the install is very easy, I’d recommend everyone to try it themselves! That way when the window motor goes out you’ll know how to fix it too the only thing that can really break are the tabs, buy a few and have some piece of mind!! Also, one trick used was to tape the inside part of the boss to the window while getting the outside piece started in the threads. Not enough room in there for me to hold both pieces at once!

Thanks Doug for a great product that will prevent future headaches!!!

    Ben

This has to be one of the most pitiful oem parts I've ever seen. No reason for that happening with the innumerable molded composites...

Anyway; thanks to DSE for fixing it!! Got my DSE parts yesterday and as always they look perfect. Shame to hide them away, but glad they'll be there.
