    Future owner, Asking for opinions

Hey guys, I am planning on purchasing a Gen V in the near future . I am a little undecided on getting a used GTS or a new SRT. Right now I have my eyes on a used GTS from a local dealer.
Here is the ebay listing (I would buy it from the dealer direct)
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Viper-...m=371633500214

Dealer said all recalls have been done, and the oil analysis came back clean. What do you guys think? Anything I should look out for or inspect before purchasing? Car fax says the car was a repo than auctioned and this dealer bought it. Not sure if that bothers me or not. What would you offer the dealer? they have it listed at 82,8xx.

    Thanks a lot in advance
    Jon

I am no where near the most experienced person on this Forum, but you might want to check exactly which recall it has, I believe R28 recall is a much more significant then the R29. I have 15 GT and I paid near that, with the same amount of miles, so the prices might be where it needs to be. As far as buying a new SRT, in time I think you may get a little more out of GTS with it's additional features. I know buying new is nice, but the GTS in question isn't far from being new in terms of miles and has some pretty significant options from a base SRT.

I'd guestimate high $60's with the branded title.

It looks like a clear title to me. If that's the color and options you want, I'd go for it around that price. You can get in a new SRT for around that, but you're going to want to add some options to it if you do - I am thinking upgraded seating and entertainment system.

Branded title for a loan repossession? I've never heard of that being listed on a title or decreasing value of a car?

A 13' with only the leather as the options should go for less money in my opinion..
And as for the recalls being done, which ones were done? There are at least 3 other recalls besides the R28 & R29 recalls, which they may not even know about, so them saying "all of the recalls are done" is just dealer hype until you verify it.

That car should be sold for around $77-80K max in my opinion....

If I was in your shoes and I was buying my first viper, I wouldn't want a car that had the engine replaced.

Somebodies hands were all up in the engine bay and you never know if things were put back properly, tight enough... torqued right... etc....

After the nightmare I had at my Dodge dealership recently, I would be even more wary and cautious.

On their site they are asking 83k so I'd wager they won't go under that (after ebay fees) in the auction. I would say it's worth high 70s if all the warranties are intact and title is clean

I personally would not be interested in a repo vehicle of any sort. Do you think the guy maintained it properly if he couldn't keep up on the payments? I'd bet he(and all his buddies once he knew it was being repo'd) drove it like they stole it.

Even some of the most caring owners who post on here have admitted they didn't break in the car as recommended which has lead to some diff and trans issues. I personally won't buy any car without a perfect carfax but as far as the car itself, it wouldn't bother me too much with only having 1,185 miles and a full warranty.

Lawrenzo is correct , it can be branded in some States, and frankly we never buy Auction Vipers. Concur with him that this is a questionable buy and would live with the car forever - listed on Carfax and Autobuy.

Heck we have a couple of one owner, clean Vipers in that price range ( even one identical to that one priced under 80k) --- never repossessed, ha.
