    Few questions before I buy

I have read mixed things about when the first oil change should be. Many say between 500-1000. I am looking at buying a T/A tomorrow but the 2nd owner doesn't know 100% when the first oil change was. The car fax shows an oil change done at 3000 miles and another at 5000 miles. Is this something to worry about? Car only has r29 recall, not r28. The original owner may have changed it himself but no records to prove. The car has 6000 miles on it currently.

Also, any other things I should look for other than the obvious stuff (tires, brakes, etc).

Thanks in advance for the help.

In the grand scheme of things, I don't think it'll make a difference. The car is warrantied. The real question is whether or not you'd have it in the back of your mind the entire time you own the car.

Yeah true. I guess since the car has been driven 6000 miles and has had 2 oil changes its some assurance? Would love to hear other people's opinions

I want to say I think I recall the owners manual states a much longer initial oil change

Since the factory would normally take the conservative approach in their recommendation, and recommends that the first oil change is at or before 6000 miles, I would say that you are good to go. If you want anything with better maintenance than this car, you will need to be buying a new car, IMHO.

Buy it, change oil, buy an extended warranty from Bill P, and enjoy!!

No concern that first oil change might have been at 3000 miles what-so-ever. It would be ideal if you could get it checked out by a qualified Viper tech on a lift. Look for obvious stuff like fluid leaks, damage or signs of repairs to under and top sides. Check for signs of previous mods that have since been removed. Check front splitter for damage as that is really easy to do. Go for a good test drive and check the info screen for stored fault codes. Be prepared to purchase conditional on the tech inspection if you can't get that done today. See if you can get the service history at the Dodge dealer. They can probably quickly pull it up on their computer for you to look at.

Consider if it being resold by first two owners in about two years indicates a problem. The car may be perfect but probably best to assume that the current owner doesn't know much about its initial life, and may not be forth-coming about any issues he's had with it.

    Good luck!

Here is under the car. Looks like some oil there but it's very dry not wet at all.

That could be from anything - and not where oil would be leaking. Something splashed up from the road.

Best part is you didn't talk yourself into your second choice, you would have regretted it every time you saw an Orange TA.

zee: Not trying to bust your chops, well maybe a little. I can tell you, that you will remember how happy you are with buying exactly what you want vs. saving a few $$$ and buying choice #2 - you've been trying to talk yourself into liking the LE for a long time.

Great advice. I got the same on a gated murci that I had a PPI completed on. The inspector said it's cherry but don't buy a black car when u want orange for the same reason u state. I'm glad I listened to him.

He better hurry or I'm gonna snatch it up. Most of my decisions take about 0.045 seconds.
