Thread: Non Extreme ACR

    Non Extreme ACR

Anyone on the boards that has a non extreme ACR. I am debating whether I need the extreme with the few track days I have. The performance shouldn't be too far off from the extreme should it?

Do you regret not going extreme.

    Any input would be helpful.

do not skimp on the E package! You will kick yourself. The car will be worth that much more because that's what people want. I got the E.

    Brad,

If for nothing else I'd get the E version for the resale value. It comes with the non-Extreme splitter in place. Unless you put the extreme splitter and diffuser extensions on it, it'll be just as practical as a non-extreme ACR.

At the track, I suspect that performance will be measurably reduced. Without the diffuser extensions and larger wing, you'll lose downforce in the rear. Without the extra canards, extreme splitter and wheel housing hood vents removed, you'll lose front downforce. I don't recall if you get the CCM brakes with the non-extreme model, but I love mine both on the street for their lack of dust, and on the track for their amazing stopping power. I guess it depends on how important these are to you.

I will not consider a non extreme. I don't even know why it was offered personally.

    Just my thoughts.

As you know, there isn't anything practical about Viper ownership. As noted above, the odds are stacked in favor of a higher percentage of return on the sale of an Extreme. Even though the non extreme is likely plenty of car for your needs, but the Extreme makes better financial cents . As a CPA you have other option but to buy the Extreme.

If you look at current dealer inventories, the E's appear to be selling much quicker. That seems to further support it is a better investment. If the CPA in you is having a battle, the depreciation comparison might have the non 'E' as the more expensive car to own in the long run.

Agreed with what is said above too. I don't see why Dodge even built the non E. It looks just like a TA 2.0 to me. I get there are differences underneath, but I'd like it to be discernible for my money.

The only performance difference between the two models is the aero/downforce, and it's not that great. I can't imagine track times being much different for most drivers. Some (very few on this forum) want a high performance machine with more of an understated look.

    ACR
    1101 @ 150
    1533 @ 177

    ACR-E
    1200+ @ 150
    1700+ @ 177

Yep and I choose the standard ACR due to the mods I'm about to undertake to make it more into a racing purpose Viper than a looker. Can't go wrong with either one. When in doubt, go with the ACR-E....these are difficult third world problems to have.

I did it at NVE 2 this weekend and freaking love it the E

    Hi Brad,

Gotta go with the "E". The wing is taller and out of the rear hatch's field of view..!
Its a safety thing, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If that's the case, people above, and in many other threads (and my opinion as well) already made it clear the E will have much higher resale value. So the $6900 option price for the Extreme version is the sound decision if you are concerned about resale value on a $150K depreciating asset. lol
If you are that much of a tightwad CPA that doesn't care about lap times, why are you even considering an ACR at all? The base car is MUCH MUCH cheaper.

Love it...but the standard ACR wing doesn't block the rear view at all. But just to be safe(r) may as well go with the ACR-E.

LMAO...like the others said below. Seriously though, if you are trying to save where you can, the ACR-E will make you more money in the long run.

And MR. CPA, lease the damn car the first 3-4 years and write that whole payment off! Then buy it after the lease it up. Can you write off that expensive of a lease payment? That is what I was wanting to do. I have an LLC to lease it under.
