You're absolutely right. I guess it is unfortunate we never had someone in the role to do all that stuff. We will understand if you must make other plans for your summer time off this year due to the late nature of things getting accomplished. Next year will be a great one if you decide to become a member and join in.

Hey Steve, I don't think I made it to that event. Are you able to give me a quick summary of where you guys went? Like you said, maybe we should do it again.

We started in Calgary and first stopped in Waterton. I believe we had lunch there. There is also a short paddle wheel trip that can be taken. Then headed south across the border and took the spectacular Going to the Sun road through Glacier national park and spent the night in Kalispell. Next day we did a little shopping at a Banff like tourist town, but much smaller, and rented some Sea Doos for an hour or so. Can't remember the name of the little town, possibly Big Fork. The next day we came home up through Whitefish, Fernie and back through Calgary. Was thinking though that it would be nice to carry on through Sandpoint and maybe past Spokane into central Washington. A Buddy was talking of some spectacular dried up falls in the area. As I said though I have no idea of the area.

I think if we replicate that trip I would like to make it down to Spokane as well. I hear great things about that area. Vic is planning the events right now. Once he gets some of the logistics worked out he will send everyone an email.

This is totally the case. Please don't get me wrong and think that I am trying to come across as a know-it-all, but I have planned many events over the years for our region. Many (most) of the time the rooms are blocked of almost a year in advance, restaurant reservations made months ahead and track (or whatever) booked also up to a year ahead. Members are notified many months (6ish) in advance and can arrange time off. Also we held 3 day events, sometimes 4 day, and it made no difference to members if it was a long weekend or not. With such advance planning people could arrange their schedules and we always had at least 20-30 cars out for every event.
I did have a 3 day event with track/autocross planned for about this time in the Kelowna area but the flack I received from ONE member was enough for me to cancel the track and the block of rooms. Unfortunate but this guy was nasty and nobody deserves to be treated like dirt when they are volunteering to do an event!

I understand everyones frustration. Being this is our first time organizing events for the club, we underestimated the time commitment. We have learned some valuable lessons already and we promise to put together some great events for this year.

I guarantee that with the lessons we have learned, next year's events will be better organized and communication will be a top priority.

No problem. We are currently trying to lineup an autocross event in Red Deer. But we might be too late.
