    ACR-E Hood Vents Re-designed

Just a heads up that FCA re-designed the removable hood vents for the ACR-E, and now they are a dedicated part vice being modified from the regular viper vents. I believe the end of the part number is now AF vs AE. I took my car in to the dealer for a loose vent, and they ended up ordering all six and swapping them since the ones that shipped with my car were not up to snuff. If any of you have loose vents I recommend you talk to your dealer to get the new ones under warranty.

The first picture is the old style vent. As you can see, it is modified by cutting one of the non-removable clips out. The second picture is the new style, with the tab specifically designed to accept the clips and keep them from sliding side to side. The clips don't appear to have changed.

When was your car built? I have a early build ACR-E and all 6 are tight. I haven't removed them yet for track use.

Mine finished QC on December 10th. If you look where the clips insert and they look like they were designed for the clips, you have the new ones. If the clips can slide laterally back and forth you have the old modified style.

Will you post a image of the new ones? The clips in mine are black, unlike the white clips in the ACR supplemental manual. I just took the vents out and thinking about leaving them out.

Both sets of clips have been black on mine as well. I think they were white in the supplement only for picture clarity reasons. I will post comparison pics today.

And I've left mine out for now too because I don't want them to rub the paint, but I can't decide if it looks right. I wish Prefix would have finished the holes in the hood better, then I definitely wouldn't put them in.

Thank you. I to removed them for the same reason. I was thinking about adding black edge trim (stuff used on door edges) to the openings to give a more finished look. I don't know if it will hold up to the engine temps.

Funny you mention that, I was actually thinking the same thing when I was laying in bed this morning. Probably some 3/16" u-channel rubber moulding. Let me know how it turns out if you do go that route, and I'll do the same.

I've said a few times someone needs to manufacture what would amount to trim rings to replace the stock vents. They could snap in and be held the same way, just be open in the middle. If no one ever does make them it will be the first thing I make for myself when I get a 3D printer - scan the stock vents, remove the middle leaving just the outer edge and clips, and print!

I'll grab some trim from my local auto parts store later today and try it.

Great idea, I'd be a buyer. Even better if they were carbon fiber.
