Question for ACR owners

I've been kicking around the idea of an ACR as I love any version of this car. I'm just curious as to how many of you track your cars?
How often do you do it and if that's the sole purpose you use the car for? I don't have a lot of tracks around and I really wouldn't know where to start with tracking the car but the ACR is really my grabbing my interest.

For me it is 80% track / 20% street. It truly is nirvana on the track, ridiculously good. I drive it on the street mainly to Viper Club events or the occasional spirited drive through the hills.

A TA 2.0 is a better dual purpose machine than an ACR. The TA 2.0 is faster than 99% of everything at the track but of course is not at the level of ACR.

Then again, you could end up like me and become obsessed with tracking, and in that case the ACR may be the machine for you! I've tracked my ACR 8 days already. Prior to that, I tracked my Viper GTS for three years. It too is faster than just about anything at the track, nearly as fast as a TA.

I would like to become obsessed with tracking the car. I just don't know if there's any real track events around here or that I could participate.

I drive mine on the street and track, it does both really well. I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long trip.

What is your city/zip code? There's no clubs near you like Nasa/Pro Auto etc?

100% street for me on my ACR-E. I'd love to track the car but can't stomach the thought of putting it into a tire wall. And all the mags that say the ACR is a thinly veiled race car that is unsuitable for road duty are retarded. It drives exactly how a sports car should, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car anywhere as long as the parking was safe. The only downside is there is no possible way to explore the car's limits on the street.

I bought my ACR-E to replace my 09 ACR as a track car used almost exclusively on the track. However, the car is so comfortable and with the 12 speaker stereo system added along with the all the other electronic creature comforts that it can easily double as a dual purpose car. I completely agree with Venom V that the car is fun to drive both on track and wherever else you are going. If you take the car to the track and gradually explore its limits, preferably initially with an instructor, you will not only become a better driver but will be able to get the most enjoyment out of the car. It was obviously created for the weekend track enthusiast.

When I was looking to buy I couldn't decide between buying a 1 of 1 with ACR/TA packages or 'just' a GT that was available and a great deal. I picked the GT and this thing is still a ridiculously capable car that you will never approach its limits on the road.

I've never tracked a car before, but am looking forward to getting on Sebring or another nearby track and really opening it up.

Short of it is, either way, you're going to enjoy the hell out of whatever version you buy. Good luck with whatever you end up deciding!

Right now, driving on the street (all of 300 mi on it) I have a 1 of 1 and with (the same) insulation as in my TA had, I think the ride is, at the minimum, as good. Without the extreme extensions I have more clearance as well.

Get the GTS and have the best of both worlds. Really comfy on the street for road rallies and cars and coffee. On the track it was a blast too and still is top ten at laguna seca as far as I know. Tires last a lot longer on GTS.

Bottom line is what your threshold is for comfort. The ACR is certainly not a daily driver, unless your love of badassness trumps your need for a reasonably compliant ride.

I have no issues driving my ACR on the street on special occasions and to the track, but I keep mine lowered to track height with full aero. That makes it impractical for speed bumps, steep driveways or really rough roads. You could always leave the ride height stock and leave the extreme aero off. Then it would be more practical for the street.

They are good places but quite a ways from me, specially Sebring. I would be looking at a trailer too if that were to be the case.

3 hrs, that's totally doable! I drive 5 hrs.each way to Mid Ohio.

Get in an ACR passenger seat at the track if you decide not to track your Viper.

I plan to drive my ACRE 80/20 street/track. I already have 2 other race cars, so this is more of a weekend toy.

If you do get into tracking, it's a very slippery slope. I started out 15 years ago with a $6000 Porsche 914 that I drove to event. I now bring my 34' ATC gooseneck with mini living quarters, with at least 3 sets of tires, tons of tools including a Tig welder, all towed by a dedicated F250 Diesel Platinum.it adds up quickly (pro tip: never actually add it all up!)

I am in the same boat as 38D - 90/10 mostly track my race car but the ACR is as fast and easier to drive then my race car (996 Cup)

After reading the comments from everyone I think that my best choice would be a ta. It has the best of both worlds and truthfully I don't think I will have the time (business) to really be able to track the car as much as it should be.
