I just checked Michelin Classic and they make the 17's in Pilot Sport 2's which is really weird since the early Viper never came with those tires. Michelin even states the 17's for Vipers from 1992-2002.
In fact, NO Viper in that date range ever came with them
Michelin is making two small tire sizes in Pilot Sports which closer period correct. However, maybe it's the V-shape tread that would be objectionable, hence the latter Pilot Sport 2's.
But then they also make the SX MXX3's in 2 small sizes. So why didn't they make the 17's in MXX3's???
Maybe Pirelli is going a better job with their classic car support?
I think the fact that Michelin has a tire that fits our cars is what they are describing , not stating it will be a perfect period specific tire . Good example would be that none of us would want the RunCraps to come back for replacement, but for the many Viper owners that have scrounged over the past 5+ years to even find a tire that would fit, the news listed is actually quite good. Unlike many cars where hundreds of thousands were made , we are talking very tiny numbers for a company to do the exact tire for a car. Seriously doubt Pirelli is even close to the listing of tires for classic car support , and since they were not even on Vipers till much later , not sure why they would be in the conversation if wanting period correct to the letter?

Discount Tire, if you work with your local dealer, should be able to get what you need. They are great to work with.
PartsRack (a decades-long paid sponsor ) has everything the other 'Rack' has, and at lower prices.
Last time I talked with tire rack (about 4 weeks ago) they had 52 335/35/17s in Reno
