Best way to make the regulators and all the other window moving parts last is to periodically clean and lubricate them. Periodic maintenance works wonders on them.

    Hi all,
New ‘96 viper owner here and I’m having similar issues with my driver side window not working. Replaced the switch with no luck. There’s no noise of the motor trying to work so I’m thinking it’s not the regulator. Any other ideas of what the issue could be or what to try next before trying to replace the motor?

Open the drivers door, there is a rubber sleeve containing a bunch of small wires that go to the regulator, they are prone to breaking.
its in front of the door above hinge area.

Ok I’ll try and check those today. Are they prone to breaking right at that spot from all the door movement? Just trying to see if I’ll need to trace them all the way back to the switch.

Very very common on the driver's side since it is opened and closed a lot more. I had at least 3 broken wires spaced over a 6 year ownership. Pull the end of the rubber boot away from the body, and then pull on each wire individually coming out of the boot from the door. Try the tan and the light blue wires first (according to the '98 service manual available online- but, don't know if same for '96). I pulled the broken wire ends out of each side of the boot, then fished a length of replacement wire through the boot and soldered it to the broken wires and used heat shrink (Harbor freight = $1.50/package) to insulate the joints.

i’ve had a persistent rattle coming from the upper rear drivers door. now window will not roll up. when i hit the window switch i could hear the switch click. no more clicking after a few tries. i didnt hold the switch down for long just a few quick bursts.
did switch fail or plastic rail piece break?

Cheers and PM me with any questions!

Oh, the radio surround just pops right off. It’s set in with a few snap-in clips. I just pull it off with my fingers, so no damage is done to the surround.
