    C7 Z06 to ACR

Well guys, I purchased the Z06 about 2 months ago. It was my first Vette and a great accomplishment to celebrate my recent business success. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Vette. And while I feel it's more refined (made for the masses), and the GTS that I test drove wasn't nearly as comfortable to drive, this is my last chance to purchase a real American exotic - the Viper.

And, I'm a track guy. I instruct for various organizations, and I race Spec E46. Road Atlanta is my home track.

As hard as I tried to deny the ACR, I just couldn't. SRT did an incredible job building an absolute weapon that no other production car can beat. And with the news that the Viper would not be produced after this year, and the fact that I have the means to buy one, I feel it's a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.

I'm purchasing from my local dealer, Palmer Dodge in Roswell, GA. They gave me a great deal on the car and good value for my trade.

Now, I have to wait a long 16-20 weeks for my machine to arrive. And it will be out at Road Atlanta shorty thereafter where I will attempt at beating the SRT lap time!

So, please welcome the "FNG" (f'ing new guy) to the forum!

Any tips, advice, etc, please chime in.

    Thanks!

Good choice! But with the Viper, I think your user name won't get a lot of use.

I actually first picked that tag when I had my E30 and was learning how to really drive a slow car fast. It had a humble meaning to it, but I quickly learned to drive that car at the limit and was embarrassing much slower drivers (in faster cars).

But you're right, with that tag on the ACR it will have a MUCH different meaning now. HAHA!

LOL I know the feeling. I have been racing a NASA Spec Focus against Corvettes, Vipers, Porches, and BMWs. RECEIVING a Point-by can be quite gratifying, even if rare. I'm from the Corvette community (C6Z/Z07), but I couldn't pull the trigger on the C7 - too many issues and compromises for a performance car.

Way better choice, IMO. But then this is a Viper forum, so no surprise I suppose.

I would think there is no denying the capabilities of the ACR being a track instructor. As a track Enthousiast who gets a couple track days a year, I am enthralled by the ACR. That thing is just such an Animal. Congratulations on your purchase. Waiting is the hardest part.

I don't know... I really love the looks of the C7 Z06.... Yes it had issues and yes they are a dime a dozen.... I have 3 C7 Z06 in our community and only one Viper mine...

I believe the major difference between the two cars is the community... Viper owners get along for the most part and they love each others rides no matter which Gen you own... That is what makes the Viper so special.... The Corvette community is extremely segregated and They Bash what they don't know... you would be very hated if you posted this on the Corvette forum... LMAO

Welcome and enjoy your new Viper when it comes...

Congratulations on your choice of track cars. I completely agree with you as I just traded my 09 ACR (which was an exceptional track car) for a new ACR-E. I will be picking it up at the factory later this month and understand your frustration waiting for the new car. Good luck with your new track weapon!
