    New After Market Motor Mounts Installed Lots of Vibration Now

    I had Woodhouse Mounts installed yesterday on my 2005 (Thanks Mark) and the shifting is greatly improved/more precise, however I am getting very strong new vibration at idle and between 2K and 3K rpms. Will this subside at all over time? If so about how many miles of driving are needed for the mounts to "settle in"? What has been people's experiences with these?

    I had those mounts in two of my previous Vipers and loved the way they made the car feel, though I don't remember any vibrations except at idle.


    *Edit* After reading the posts below - I had Woodhouse Motor Mounts w/ Factory Trans mount.

    Did you change the tranny mount?

    I did change the trans mount with Woodhouse mount.

    Yes, the stiffer mounts are going to give a lot more feedback than stockers. That said, my Woodhouse mounts sort of broke in over time. I did end up keeping the motor mounts but putting the tranny mount back stock to find some drive line vibrations....that actually ended up being the tranny mount. And let me say that the vibration I was getting from the Woodhouse tranny mount, was NOT an issue, we just thought it was a vibration coming from the tranny. Next time I get get under there, I will likely put the Woodhouse tranny mount back in.

    I've heard they need time to settle, especially if you do both motor and trans, you will really feel them at first. That is what i have been told by techs and people who had them. Unfortunately I don't have experience myself but was considering doing one or the other, but was worried about vibration being too much with both motor and trans mounts.

    Keep us posted on if it settles out over a few tanks of gas.

    Had them on my 2005 and loved what it did for the shifting and general "solid" feel. It will take 500-750 miles before they settle down - but don't ever expect them to be 100% vibration free. I did not do the trans mount hoping it might make the vibrations less.

    Did that help?

    What would you think about doing just the trans mounts and keeping motor mounts stock? Would that "clean up" the shifitng without feeling like a paint shaker?

    Not sure if just doing the trans mount would help? I may actually have a woodhouse trans mount (only 1 needed) somewhere if you want to be the guinea pig.

    we could do that. I doubt it could hurt anything. Worst that would happen would be a lack of effect, right?

    They come in one viper I bought before and hated them. Im a street guy and never on a track so didn't care anything about the extra vibrations to get a more solid shift. Beside I can power shift my viper thru all first 4 gears at anytime and not miss a gear with the oem mounts anyway. Agree if I were knocking off lap after lap on the track then I would def want the stronger mounts

    I've noticed on full bore hard, acceleration that it is torquing pretty hard, sometimes third is hard to get. Now, it could be that new OEM mounts would fix it just fine. I don't know. But it's definitely torquing hard enough that I see why people put them in.

    I've wondered if OEM mounts, even if not totally falling apart, should be replaced because they get so abused by all the torque we throw at them that they lose their effectiveness even if they aren't fully disintegrated like you sometimes see. Mine are not disintegrated into nothing, but they seem to be allowing more movement than they should/used to.

    Sure, Rocket. Let's Guinea pig it! if nothing else, it will be good for the community to know.

    I hope you are right and they do settle down. It's very noticeable right now and not in a good way.

    An option for street guys is to have the factory mount on the passenger side and upgrade the left and trans mount . Did it on mine with good results .

    It's an old Drag racers trick , it allows the motor to move a little on light loads or idle via the right mount . And on Full throttle keeps engine rocking to a minimum . Left side has the most movement and the solid mount on the left mitigates most if not all the issues . Hope this helps .

    I have woodhouse motor and tranny mount ... there is some vibration, but it is now just part of my driving experience hahaha

    It actually makes good sense. And you said you had some good results with it?

    I've heard, again just heard so take it for what it's worth, that some Gen IVs could go into limp mode with those aftermarket mounts installed. I don't know how true it is. But my concern is feeling like I am in a paint shaker. Your one side solution sounds like a good idea for cleaning it up a bit without feeling every single bit of Vibration.
    Does anyone find that their wives prefer the aftermarket mounts?

    Are you referring to adding toluene to fuel to raise the octane?

    I remember people being really serious about that in the late 90's-early 2000's then people stopped talking about it. Not sure if they decided it wasn't worth the hassle or what.

    i am about to install a TR6060 in my gen 2 . I have a poly on driver side and stock on pass side. with the t56 i had a stock trans mount. I am installing the 6060 with a poly trans mounts so... i will have the 2/3rds set up. I ll let you know how it works out.

    I could notice enough flex a WOT to make gear changes tricky . I do have a lot more power than most so I figure that makes it more prominent than what a stock powered person would experience. Its part of the reason I am switching to the TR6060. They are known to shift much easier. I am hoping with the poly trans mount and the new clutch and aluminum flywheel etc.... things will be buttery on track. The T56 under mild to moderate power application shifted just fine. I didnt notice any vibration or shaking shifter with just the one poly mount.

    Well after 7 months the vibration is still very strong and has not subsided. It still only occurs at idle and between 2K and 3K. I try to drive the car in a way to avoid the vibration but that is reducing my enjoyment of the car. Maybe I should put a stock motor mount on the passenger side like stated in a previous post?
