Tail of the Dragon 2016

I have received a couple of emails regarding the 2016 Tail of the Dragon event. Instead of having to go to our great friends of the AL/TN region's thread to find the links, I copied their information (below) to our Region's thread. Tail of the Dragon Number 11 Registration Is OPEN!!!
Save the date - June 2-5 2016 because registration for Tail of the Dragon number 11 is now open. It will be hard to top last year's event but we plan to have a great time on the best roads east of the Mississippi. This year's event registration includes a gala southwest flavor dinner at the hotel. Also included in registration is a t-shirt, commemorative coin, and a video (one per registered car) of the famous Viper parade through Gatlinburg. Plus we'll have cruises throughout the area including the traditional Friday taming of the Dragon. You don't want to miss this event so register today.

As per last year, the Alabama/Tennessee Chapter is teaming up with the Carolinas Chapter to sponsor this event. The registration site is www.carolinasvoa.com/

I was hoping for a ground room, but it's all good. Also, my buddy from Oregon is flying out and will be joining me like he did a couple years ago. So it will be Kristian & Kyle W.

I just reserved our room. I asked about the 1st level rooms. It seems, that whoever set up the block of rooms, asked for the building with the garage. A church group is there that same weekend and they put them in our normal rooms. Whoops!!

We (Tom and Diane +1) will be towing the viper up with the Mega Cab two days early to visit with family in Bristol Tn. before we drive down to Gatlinburg Thursday morning. So, we will miss out on the awesome caravan from Raleigh to Gatlinburg.

The hotel took it on themselves to assign the church group to the 1st level rooms but maybe they don't know how rough you folks are. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and I should have asked for that building - especially since the parking lot belonged to the Carolinas. I think they thought we would have preferred the rooms so the cars could be under roof. We'll just have to make do and party where ever we can.

Since the dates are still a long way off, could we call the Hotel and see if they could change the room slots...don't think the church group would mind. I think the rooms for our group and the church group are just saved and not identified by individual room yet.

It is certainly worth a call. I'd give it a try and let them know you guys have had those rooms for some years. Let me know what you find out and I'll talk to Tim if that doesn't work.

Carolinas VOA Members,

As many know, the best part of the Tail of the Dragon...after the ride of course is the socializing. As some have voiced on the VOA forum, they would prefer rooms closer to the hotel's office than to have rooms in the garage complex. I am in the process of seeing if those that have rooms in the parking garage can be switch to the 1st or 2nd floor nearest the office/pool area. I called this morning and was told to call back Monday and talk with the coordinator to see what can be done.

If you would rather have a room up front instead of in the rear of the complex please email to let me know. Last year some of us still parked in the garage even though we had rooms in the other section...so parking in the garage may or may not be an issue if you decide to have a room where the after-hours socializing takes place.

Please let me know of your room preference as soon as you can as I'm not sure what time Monday the hotel will be returning my call.

I got my ground room reserved. Im ready to register me and my wife for the event/dinner but do I have to add my 4 yr old boy as an attendee since he does not need a grab bag or a meal at the dinner? If yes then just I will register and let my wife keep grady in the room during the dinner. Also I want to give my son my shirt can I get a 4t or 5t size for my shirt?

No need to register your son. I will check and see if we are doing children sizes and get back with you on that one.
