Maximizer exhaust review and sound clips

So against everyone's advise and jokes about the exhaust, I ordered a Maximizer exhaust for my 2002 Viper. I paid around $800 shipped for the exhaust and it was here in 4 days. The exhaust looked nice, welds seemed clean and it was painted black. The item is made from mild steel not SS but the amount of miles I drive my car per year I dont foresee this being an issue for me.

Install was straight foward, however the band clamps it comes with have something weird going on where the way the edge is, you can not get the clamp tight enough to clamp the exhaust together tightly. I wound up using standard exhaust clamps.

Here are some videos at Idle, reving and inside the cabin driving. The drone inside the cabin is load dependant, not RPM or gear. Its a little louder than stock, but not obnoxious and makes the viper sound really exotic. One little feature i like is they used a crossover tube between the mufflers to balance out the pressure on each side, similar to the function of an X pipe. I think its this feature that makes it sound less like a UPS truck coming down the road and more like a high end exotic car.

All in all Im happy with the exhaust and the sound. Time will tell if it holds up on the car, and I will keep you updated of any failures or issues in the future. For the money, i think its a decent exhaust. I kinds like the black look..

Its right about at the loud limit I would like for the Viper. This is with no cats on the car and stock exhaust manifolds. I may do headers down the road to get a slightly more throaty sound. Thank goodness I upgraded my entire stereo system last summer, cause now you really need it. This system comes with 4 mufflers and looks to be an exact copy of Corsa, with the added balance tube on the mufflers, which Im not sure if Corsa has..Im curious to see how the black powdercoat aka exhaust paint holds up. Its definitely not a powder coat cause its way too thin and scratches pretty easily.

Just enjoying the sound and performance of it.No issues at all. Just had the side skirts off to heat wrap some of the exhaust and the stock manifolds. Everything was perfect still.

Do you have a check engine light or did you go with the 'dummy' plugs?

I have the SCT tune, but the funny thing is after driving the car for a a few months the check engine light came on and was giving the Catalytic converter code from the rear O2's. I asked Sean at Roe racing about it and he said he had no answer for it and that sometimes it throws the code for no reason even with the rear O2's being turned off. Since I went with the larger 3" diameter exhaust I have no gotten the code again. Kinda weird, but I guess there is a greater volume of air in there moving at a greater rate..

Ya I went to 3" with cat delete and at first it was fine. It took almost 2 weeks for the check engine light to come on. I'm thinkin I'll just go with the dumy plugs. Might hafta call JonB....Again
