My Track-Drive of a Gen Five. Road Atlanta

Thanks to Ringgold Dodge, I was able to "test drive" a G5 Launch Edition, and had Randy Pobst as my 'instructor.'

Please take a look? Wet and Dry, too. Thanks Ringgold!

    Jon,

What a memorable experience that must have been, and that was an entertaining write up! I would love to be the passenger for a few hot laps with Randy. It seems there have been very few that have tracked the Gen V and wrote about it, I'm encouraged that two of the first posts on this forum are about just that. The Gen V Viper is still an undiscovered jewel on the road course, an extremely fast and enjoyable machine in capable hands.

Nice story. It is great to see you out sharing the Viper experience with so many people and for your evaluation of the Gen V.

I have many thousands of track miles in Gen 1-2-3-4 Vipers ( and a few other true exotics) on a dozen or more tracks. Only 2tracks so far in a G5, and 400 total track miles. Let me make one thing perfectly clear:

I LOVE THE GEN 5. Fast, PLANTED, and predictable. Safer. Less scary for me, but just as scary for some riders. (Im faster!) THis is the BEST Viper ever.........reminds me of my jump from G1 to G2. Huge Improvements and more.

SRT brought a G5 GTS mule (37000 miles on it) to Watkins Glen, and I added 125 on it miles there. It was a test-platform for the Gen 5 MoPar PCM! We even paced a Corvette Club (40+ cars) for 5 laps..... They commented on the nice burble of the MOPAR PCM !! Something new for a Perf-PCM. usually quiet, less or no burble..

We are 'on the verge' of securing a G5 Pace Car (or two!?) for SRT Viper Cup finals at Sebring Nov 22-23-24. Parade laps are planned, and between Doris and I we get to take some riders too. Hope to see some FL Viper owners there.

Jon any info when the Mopar PCM will be out?

Glad you likes the car. I love mine. I want to get a Gen II eventually, but as my first Viper I am very pleased.

I suspect that SEMA week, early Nov, it would likely be a debut target. "soon" ?

"They dont talk about future product" too much at MoPar either!

    BUMP for VPRBITE

I am just bumping this thread, apparently the 2nd thread ever made on this Forum.

It is significant due to the Fall-2013 Pix in post # 13 of Dick Winkles doing what was described as 'final programming' on the Gen5 MoPar PCM. It has been almost ONE YEAR, and we still do not have a Mopar Part # on this PCM!

Note to VprBite: Mopar is often VAPORware vs VIPERware.....

aarrrgh! Winkles/Giles both have them, yet there out driving Hellcats. WTF! I think one of them needs to step with some communication or make it happen..

Wow, triple threat for a man with a wallet: A beautiful blonde, brunette, and Viper - what more could any man want? The only nitpick here is that both girls can't fit in the Viper (legally).

Why not? THEY both climb in, and YOU stand outside and take their picture!
