    OEM Intake Tube Styles

So, I've come across what look to be two different types of OEM Intake tubes. One set of the corrugated tubes has side holes which connect up to a "silencer" box. The other set is also corrugated but doesn't have the additional holes to hook up to the silencer box. Can anyone tell me why the difference and which years/models used which? My primary interest in knowing which was original on my 96 GTS, but it'd be helpful to know why there were 2 styles:

Just straight tubes - no extra hole

Additional hole to hook up to "silencer" box:

I believe the Reverb canister from the corrugated intake hoses are Pre 1996. I think 1996 was the first year they did away with them!

Cool - thanks for the response! For good measure - can anyone confirm? 1996 on didn't use the "reverb/silencer" box? (anyone with a stock '96 GTS that can confirm based on what's in their garage at the moment?

I do own a 96 GTS and I do not have the Reverb box...

If my memory is correct the 96 RT had the Reverb box and the GTS did not. This was a transition year from GENI to GENII. The 96 RT was a half GENI and half GENII. The RT engine was a GENI, the chassis a GENII.

The '96 RT did not have the reverb box. In fact, there are different part number for the tubes 1992-95 (5245 267), 1996 is 5245 778. None of the GTS Vipers should have the reverb canister.

My 94 came stock with the reverb box. Must be a Gen1 only part.

    Perhaps I wasn't clear....sorry.

The reverb canister came only in 1992-1995 RT/10s....the '96 RT and no GTS got it.
