COTA Edge Addicts - 2/7/16 Pics and Video

So last weekend was my first time driving my Viper or any car on a road coarse except for the Viper Experience. I was in the slowest run group since it was my first time on a track and first time at an Edge Addicts event. Let me start by saying if you haven't driven your Viper on a road coarse you NEED to and as often as possible. This was so much more fun than drag racing or street racing. My car is stock except for the Viper Exchange lowering caps and Arrow PCM. I changed to Castrol SRF brake fluid but the brake pads were stock and they faded after the first hard lap. They were never the same the rest of the day so I had to let off way early at the end of the straights and baby the brakes all day. I've already ordered Carbotech 24's front and 10's back along with the ACR brake ducts, I'm hoping those 2 things will fix my brake issues. Best time of the day with slow traffic and bad brakes was 2:47 and this car and me has the potential to go much faster!

Big thanks to Peter Krause for the camera and lap timer/gps set up and Bernie at Viper Exchange for spending some time with me in the pits looking at the car and helping to diagnose my issues with the brakes!!!

Here's the link to a video of my best laps.

Absolutely! There's no excuse for someone who owns one of these cars to not at least try it once, if it's at all possible!

If you appreciate your car before, you'll love it after. Your brain can't comprehend what the cars are capable of, unless you do it.

The only bad thing about driving CoTA is that every track you drive on after that will never live up to the CoTA experience.

We are very fortunate to have the only Formula 1 track, here in Texas. It is nirvana on 4 wheels out there. The track surface is perfection, doesn't even have any flaws. I'm glad to see more Viper owners use these cars for what they were designed for. And, I'd agree that if someone owns a Viper and has never taken it out on a road course, they are only enjoying about 50% of the car. They might not know they only experience 50% of the car, and they won't until they try tracking one.

Glad you enjoyed the event, COTA is amazing. Vipers were well represented at the event, there were 5 ACR Extremes and and 3 or more other Gen V's and a couple Gen IV's as well.

Yes they were, hell there were more Gen V Vipers than C7 Z06 Vettes! What color is your car?

I was in the exact spot you are just a little over a year ago when I ran COTA for the first time and was bitten immediately! The next event I did was Viper Rendezvous at Motor Sport Park in Hastings NE and I highly recommend it. It's a 3 day, Viper only event and a lot of fun. http://viperrendezvous.com/

Agreed! There is nothing like COTA (even in a Gen 2)!

Just got home from my second track day at COTA. The Carbotech pads worked perfect ZERO brake fade and I'm sure the brake ducts helped. On my second to last session today my instructor said that the rotors (stock Stoptech's) might be warped as there was a noticeable vibration under braking. I also added the TA sway bars and alignment. I was able to manage a 2:37 without traffic holding me up. I've should have some great video as soon as I upload and edit it. There was a Lexus LFA that I was behind for a few laps and finally passed and some other non-street legal cars that I passed throughout the day.
