I am looking for a bit more sound from my car but do not want to get any neighbors mad. Has anyone tried these before of have any tips on improving the sound? Added benefit is cooler sills as well.

Am not sure how much that will really drop the heat on the sills. Eliminating the crossover will reduce can heat but changes the sound.

My advice is just do a Corsa catback or high flows and a Corsa catback. That should cool the sills and Corsa sounds great. I did Belanger headers, high flows and then the Corsa to eliminate drone. The good news is, we have a lot of modified exhausts in Arizona so come to the meets and check them out. Headers will make things louder than just cats and corsa. But it gives a lot of power.

My 02 had just high flows and corsa and I got compliments on the sound all the time. Of course that had rear exhaust. But I get compliments on mine all the time now too, but side pipes will always sound different than rear exhaust. I recently posted some test videos on here so someone could hear my setup. Scroll down a bit in the gen III section and find the thread, there should be another thread someone started about asking about full bellanger and such and I posted them on there. If not I will post them again later.

I am not an exhaust guru but I think the cross over pipe was a solution dodge came up with to reduce/eliminate exhaust drone. So I think adding those slip fit exhaust tips will reduce heat in the cabin (remove the cross over pipe) and produce a drone sound to your exhaust.

I think those tips are really expensive for what your getting. If your prepared to live with the drone, want to make the car louder, want to reduce cabin heat, perhaps look into these

Its not much more then those tips. Mopar also has a magnaflow muffler I think that is a mopar part number. I have never heard or seen these mufflers in action... make sure you research them. They just seem alot more cost effective then the slip fit tips.

I have never heard this drone effect. But alot people cant stand it. I purchased a used 2008-2010 factory catback exhaust. I dont know if it is any louder (not installed yet).... but the drone problem is apparently not an issue with them and eliminates the cross over pipe (cabin heat reduced).

I think Corsa exhaust is the ultimate solution. But expensive

Corsa is also worth it in my and many other people's opinions.

Here are some videos I made to help someone who was trying to make this decision. FWIW, the full Belanger kit is known for having drone. Some don't mind, some like it. For me, as a musician with very sensitive ears drone was a deal breaker.

My stock gen III was very quiet and I hated it lol. I picked up a procharged gen III recently and the owner had the gen IV exhaust swap on it. It sounds much louder but not like an after market exhaust loud. Its the perfect pitch. I would look into that im sure you can find a used exhaust off a gen IV realy cheap.

The Gen IV exhaust sounds like a good option but nt sure where to find one "really cheap." So far nothing about this car has been really cheap!

I did the belanger cat back with tips, sounded great was cat less too my setup so was louder but not to loud here is a clip, the heat with out the crossover and the cats, sills where warm at best after mods.

I was driving home from dinner with my girlfriend and someone at the light was getting my attention so I rolled down the window anticipating a compliment on the car and they said "that sounds awesome!" So I guess I did get a compliment on the car, just specifically on the sound. Also, depending on how you drive it you can get a lot of burble. Engine break hard, like if going fast in second and coming totally off the throttle you get a lot of burble and pop. Ease off the throttle and you get less.

I am happy with my setup. The sills are definitely cooler. You can grab them with your hands on all but the hottest days. And the power was noticible. I do not think it is "piss off the neighbor's loud" by any means. It is louder than stock but I never heard my car stock. The first owner put a ghetto setup in there to make it sound better but I want nuts aboutnit and I think it robbed power and I know it led to a gunked up right bank. I personally prefer high flow cats over no cats. And habe always been happy with the Corsa. If you don't want it as loud as mine, you can just do high flows and corsa. I think you will be pretty happy with that. Plus it saves you the money if headers and they can always be added later.

No, nothing is cheap for these cars. I'm not sure I would want it to be. Or rather, I don't mind paying for quality. Corsa is quality, if a bit expensive.

Gen 4 doesn't have crossovers and doesn't have drone either. I believe it was more for sound purposes than anything.

Anyway, I just ordered a pair of high flow cats and Corsa track catbacks from JonB (Viper Parts Rack). While I don't have the crossover pipe, I do have quad cats right now and that makes a lot of footwell heat (I blow cool air down there). Going down to just dual high flow cats apparently stops a lot of that.

But more than anything it just is louder and sounds badass! My friend has the same setup and it sounds great. Here's a random YouTube video I found:

I bought a Gen IV exhaust for my '04, and ended up just changing the muffler tips only. Once I had the side sills off, the exhaust was exactly the same, even the numbers matched. So I cut the cross over's out, installed the muffler tips, and then kept the rest of the Gen IV stuff in case I need new mufflers or cats replaced some day. Now the car sounds a bit louder and better, but not overbearing or anything. I was told the crossovers were just to make the cars quiter in order to meet regs at that time.

I went with the Belanger tips, further down on the same page as the link. Easy install, no drilling, sounds louder/better but not over the top. For me, these were a good alternative to replacing the exhaust. I have yet to find an aftermarket exhaust set-up that I had to have because of the sound. You'll be happy with these for now.

I have the full Belanger system front to back with the high flow cats on and I love the way it sounds! Drone is minimal IMHO but everyone's expectations are different. If the thread is still going later today I'll get some video at idol and running up through the gears.

+1....what he said, mine sounds great too. When first installed it will be louder and then after a few drives it is slightly quieter.....but only slightly, hehe

You can buy those tips from JonB. They will be cheaper. Stretch has installed those tips on his stock gen 3 exhaust and is very happy with the results.

The previous owner never installed them and I am eyeing a full bellanger setup.

I have Bellanger headers + Corsas = NO DRONE, get rid of X pipe and you will run cooler, soung is great and it will get loud when going WOT.

I was checking out the link for the Mopar exhaust offered by Summit linked earlier on this post. It looks like you could do it on a weekend. Do you need to go to a muffler shop to have this system installed or can it be handled by a weekend warrior? It does not appear to be welded on but clamped. I agree with earlier posts, for a couple hundred dollars you get a whole cat back system, not just two exhaust tips. A virtual no-brainer.
