    Porsche GT2

    Alright, this is a Viper forum but there appear to be a number of you who have owned a variety of cars. I am looking at a 2008 GT2. I had a n 07 GT3 that I wish I had never sold, and looking for another 997 body style. I am not getting rid of the Vipers, I just really enjoy the gocart feeling of the Porsche's. Anybody have any input here on Gt2's?

    I've owned a 08 Gt2. Car was awesome to say the least. Can't imagine you not loving it. Great power especially torque, almost zero exhaust note. Steering is amazing, brakes as well. Lots of headroom as well which is great for us tall guys. I've also owned a 997.1 GT3 and the 08 GT2 is vastly superior in every way.

    Can the exhaust note be solved some with a GMG bolt on? Loved the sound of my GT# with the GMG. I know the turbo cars are going to sound different just hoping for something acoustically pleasing.

    It's never going to sound as good as a gt3, but it's better in every other way. GMG does make an exhaust for it which will help. Remember the stock unit is a sweet Ti piece made by Akropovik ( excuse the spelling )

    If I were to own a Porsche that I could afford it would be a GT2.

    I'd go for a 997.2 GT3 RS over a 997 GT2 (a car i really like).

    Since there's some talk about Porsche here, I'll mention that I just ordered a 2017 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, fully loaded. Dealer said the car should be ready by June, so I'll take the factory Delivery in Germany and do the beak-in on the autobhan and try it on the Nurburgring track also. Then they'll ship it back to Canada.
    I'm all excited about this ! Cant wait !

    owned one and modded it quite a bit over 2 years. tracked it often and it was good to me . my first car i ever tracked as well. if you track the gt2 hard it will need new brakes . but just replace with some steelies.

    I own a 997 gt2 and a 997gt3rs (3.6L) both used mainly on track with street driving. The RS hands down is a better car on track as is but when modded nothing comes close to a properly set up gt2. 911 recently comes out of the box with a lot of push (understeer) to help with novice drivers on street and on track but a couple of minor adjustments and you get one of the best driving cars on track. I have around 15000km track mileage on my gt2 and knock on wood other than proper maintenance, tires and brakes you are good to go. They are one of the most reliable cars I've driven on track and that includes bmw m, mercedes amg, ferrari, audi etc. Yes I own a viper ta but i still haven't tracked it yet to compare it on track with the gt2 but i'll put my money on the gt2 as I have been tracking the car since 2008 and have better understanding with the car plus its heavily modded compared to the ta.

    But if you are considering for street driving its also a great car and even more better suited than the gt3rs, however if you decide to make it a high horsepower car you are defying the purpose of the car. If that what you are looking for get a 997.1 turbo and mod as you wish and it'll be way cheaper than buying a gt2.

    I will be purchasing a gt2 in a couple years. Although, i am most likely to buy a turbo, and remove the front drive portion. It sheds some descent weight switching to RWD, gives it 99% of the gt2 experience. My reasoning for this, is I need back seats for my kids.

    I am sure it kills the resell value of the porsche after you de-engineer it and butcher its drive train. But I typically keep cars untill they die. If you were trading it in at a dodge dealership, it may go unnoticed hahaha
