Is it time to swear in a new President yet?

I am trying to keep an open mind and trying not to be too, too critical these days but this head clown in office is making it so that is an impossible goal to be positive these days:

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/marke...Epn?li=BBnb7Kz

WTF? I mean really......all he is doing is trying to create some kind of legacy that he is this Robin Hood character who just swings tree to tree, hugging and kissing them along the way as he robs from the rich and gives freely to the poor. The longer this term goes on, the more I believe time will prove that this is yet another low point in American Leadership, if not the lowest as a nation.

I also read recently that he is proposing additional taxes, similar to the lux and gas taxes but a specific tax that is on an exponential scale based upon horsepower of a new vehicle purchase. You want 645 HP, it will be yet another tax on top of the current guzzler tax to buy new. Indications are it is going to be pretty excessive. As it was described to me, this will be on new cars but if he has his way, it will also be rolled in on the stock HP number of used vehicles for yearly registrations. The numbers will be based above some arbitrary HP number they will pick. Wanna bet that number is 400 HP!

I understand roads don't repair themselves and investments in new technology, etc. but this is cramming it down our throats to a level so fast and so frequent, we can't even puke it up. A $10 fee on barrels of oil, yet a gas tax fee at the pump for a double tax and I am sure a triple tax in there somewhere.

Hey I am a high tech EE Automation Engineer so I should be getting off on new technology right? Mark my word but this autonomous driving BS will be the downfall of America. It is great for off road Mining trucks, which I work on in real life BUT in the real world on real highways, in mother nature and the ignorance of man, it is going to be a complete disaster. A Mad Max vehicle is starting to look more and more attractive to have in the garage. Nothing electronic but an am radio. Geez!

He should not have won the last election. Something or someone jacked up the timeline.

I mean, infrastructure needs to be updated without a doubt.

But that money would be pillaged for stupid useless programs.

In SoCal we pay .67¢ a gallon for gas...

    7.25% - 9.5% in sales tax

Don't even start on property tax and other taxes...

Along with nearing zero water, I can't wait to see what the tax is on H20
Thats what we need is more additional taxes

Part of the problem is that the Left/Liberal ideology understands that "there is money in them thar hills"...aka those with real assets and net worth. The prevailing thought is that net worth is bad and the fact that you have net worth means you are not being charitable enough...so we [gov't] that is 'For the People' can and will find a way to distribute that ill-earned net worth equitably...not by force but by creative redistribution schemes veiled as goods and services demanded by John Q. Public. Take Hillary for example and her recent dogma regarding her Faith driving her policies. The Methodist policy on property is that it should be collective ownership managed by God (aka the State)...and reduce the pursuit of individual wealth since it is given from God...not man. Oh boy. What's strange is that I had copied that hyperlink from the UMC web page and as of this AM, the link is no longer active. Coincidence? Here is it. http://www.umc.org/what-we-believe/economic-community

Not to be a jerk, and not agreeing nor disagreeing with either side, but shouldn't this be moved to "off topic" or "fun and games"? I just mean, the forums are viper-centric, not political.

But I believe partisanism is tearing this country apart because no one is allowed to think for themselves anymore. You must be one side or the other on everything.

On the old site we used to have a Politics section for things like this, we don't seem to have one here? Not sure why?
Could have a Politics sub section in the Off Topic area?

Jerk! (Kidding) Hey it is an idiotic move by government official to further kick an industry when it is down. They start heavily taxing hp and bye bye Viper and others. I rarely post political issues but this one issue sent me over and I am sure others feel the same.

This ^^^^ is the real problem I agree, only 2 schools of thought, no innovation...

This country literally cannot afford another Democrat in the White House. I'm sick of the free loaders, riding on the backs of hard-working Americans. Government has gotten too large, too expensive, and highly inefficient at everything they touch.

As of today, Barry has 342 more days left.

No telling what he will do or try to do as his time winds down.

You know I have a different take on this whole thing. Obama has disappointed on many levels but how many presidents ever started office when the losing party said from day one "our job is to keep him from accomplishing anything" and they have done their best to do it. Never in our history. His predecessor started two wars that have lasted 15 years and cost almost 6000 lives and countless injuries to our troops and spent almost 3 trillion dollars while doing it. Over 300,000 civilians have died and we are no safer than we were before. In fact, thanks to Paul Bremer and his reconstruction in Iraq, we are in much worse shape and we have ISIL.

And look at the Republican wannabes this time around. The only one with the slightest common sense is Kasich from Ohio. I like Sanders' grit but I don't trust Clinton. So where are we? I can tell you where - the money will still go to the top 1% while our congress enriches themselves while in office getting rich from loopholes and lobbyists. It has been that way for the last 50 years and it isn't going to change now. In the meantime we will continue to spend as much on defense as the next 15 countries combined while our roads, bridges, infrastructure goes to shit. We are the world's mercenaries and we take on every problem there is at our expense.

Oh, and the gas tax has remained the same since Reagan raised it and Bush I raised it again in 1983. Time to pay up to fix the roads. Imagine Republicans raising taxes to fix the roads! What a concept. Yep it is a different take. Let's see gas is cheaper, unemployment is 4.9%, we have 17 million folks with health insurance, the economy hasn't crashed, and we have started no new wars despite congress working to block everything. Blame Barry but, with all his failings, the economy in a damn site better shape than it was with Bush. Imagine if congress actually remember they work for us and the president decided to work with congress. Yes, that's not going to happen.

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Scalia died today. Now the president he gets to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice, I'm sure he/she will not be friendly to gas powered vehicles.

I honestly can't stand that clown Grover Norquist and the movement/political style he represents. He makes all new republican members of congress sign a contract saying they will not raise taxes ever on anything. And if they don't sign, he labels them a socialist. This is the inherent problem now with politics. You either go all the way in or they label you a traitor. There definitely can be legitimate and fair reasons to raise taxes. But these people have signed saying they won't. Thy can't just look at things objectively. I'm not saying we should raise taxes. The net might be lower taxes, but if in that process there is something that does get raised, these people have broken an oath and get labeled a socialist.

We and our representatives are being forced to be one way or the other and admitting that something makes sense or is a workable concept but doesn't fit exactly in with the party line and you get run out of town on a rail.

The other problem, is that there are real issues in this world that need dealt with. IMO, working poor needs addressed. But free cell phones aren't the way to do that. Cell phones aren't a right. Especially considering any cell phone can call 911. So no one is denied their right to safety for being poor. But saying that people need cell phones and have a right is rediculous. How many times are these free phones used in aiding the commission of crimes? Also,my this idea that everyone is entitled to everything has created a generation of,effectively, children. And thenproboem is, eventually those checks are going to bounce. You can't keep taking my money to give away free cell phones and eventually I have nine left. Then, who is going to keep these people in entitlements. One of the arguments for giving these people entitlements is because they haven't had the same advantages as others and it isn't fair. Well guess what, life isn't fair. Sometimes it sucks. And sometiems you have to work harder than someone else because they were born wealthy. Well that's just how it is. No one picked on you and made sure you weren't born to millionaires.

Also, this idea that everyone should go to college is horseshit. A lot of people aren't cut out for college. I, not saying they are dumb, far from it, just that it's not a good fit for them. When did we decide to look down on people who work a trade for a living? It's a noble and very needed profession. Do you know how many people I knew in college who were only there because their parents wanted them there? So the ended up with a diploma in something they had no interest in and is basically not marketable and are now working at Starbucks (nothing wrong with that either.) but they didn't have to waste the money and time of going to college for no reason. Like cars? Learn to be a mechanic. Good with your hands? Plumbers make good money and provide an extremely important service. Shoehorning people into college who don't want to be there does none of us a favor. And making us collectively pay for it, only makes it worse. Whatever happened to not just making it on your own, but deciding what you want to do on your own? Everytime I hear "everyone should go to college" I think of a roommate I had who basically needed his advisor to create his own major for him because his classes didn't add up to a major. Last I heard he was trying to make it as a professional gambler. Money well spent on education, right?
