Been over on Corvette Forum, and the vast majority of hardcore rack guys are lamenting Chevy's decision to add supercharger, and holding the Viper us as the example of what NA could have been...
they seem to think it would resolve a lot of the heating issue...

And over here we have Viper guys wanting superchargers on the Viper... will this cause the same issues?

I think it depends on what they want SC;s for, the drag racers do, but not the track guys, unless the heat issues can be controlled.

The road course guys hate the puny 1.6L blower on the Z06. The previous ZR1 had a 2.3L blower on it, and had more potential, with less heat. The only guys that want superchargers here on their Vipers are straight line racers, not road course guys.

The cooling issue with the Z06 is the tiny radiator and tiny grille opening they put on the car. It was a result of them not getting enough funding to do a revised front bumper for the Z06, so it still uses the base model C7 front bumper. Notice how the C6 base model had a small grille, and the Z06/ZR1 had larger grilles. The radiator in the C7 Z06 is also smaller than the ZR1, even though both had similar hp ratings.

Well I love my ACR-E and am a Mopar guy through and through, but you can't discount what Chevy has done with the C7... its pretty awesome car for the coin.
I am going to get one when they go mid engine, so I thought I'd start learning...

You aren't kidding, some of the guys over there are nuts... this DR MUSTANG dude HATES Vipers with a passion. You can't even try to defend, he screams, yells, calls you a child etc.
Its crazy...

However there are some dedicated gearheads over there who recognize what the ACR is and can do... and they defend it, even with a C7 sitting in their garage...

Well that and the cars and coffee crowd only care about the dash plaque that says "650hp" - so of the 10,000 C7Z's sold, an extremely small percentage will ever be driven hard.

One of the problems with driving a corvette hard is the driver's fibercon tends to rattle around in the center console. Though I heard to boost sales, they are going to allow owners to have their bifocal prescription put right into the windshield. I kid I kid.

It does seem like that supercharger is pushed to the max. Have companies come out with an aftermarket cooling solution yet? Would water meth work?

I've been a fan of SC and FI in general for many years, although I love my NA vipers. It's all about doing it right, vs cutting corners and designing a cars performance for a brochure vs for the track.

I think some guys here are excited about the new SC options being posted here, like me, because they seem to be done correctly. If the right cooling and blower scaling is done, I wouldn't hesitate to SC my car to put down 800+rwhp, and not be afraid of getting out for my track days. I'm not road course racing, I'm just a group 2 run for fun guy, if some heat soak drops my 800whp to 650whp, I can scrape by with only that much on the road course, lol, as long as I don't limp mode out or shutdown like the vettes do. I'd have more faith in the tuners we're seeing in our forum, than GM.

A supercharger pretty much will ruin the car for the track. I supercharged my 2001 and while I like the extra horsepower, it is no longer usable on track Maybe, just maybe, if I wanted to go crazy with modifying the hell out of it trying to get the cool better and massively upgrade the brakes, and it might survive, but I have never ever seen a supercharged track car do very well Invariably the stories I hear about how great a car is on track or not very impressive when combined with the lap times

You can run an SC in any environment as long as it's set up properly. The C7Z's is too small and the radiator/cooling is, well, too small. It makes GM look really bad to take a step back from the ZR1. Yeah the C7 looks awesome and that interior is badass...but performance wise, the ZR1 is better.

Donk...you say Vette's are pretty gay? That's funny. How about you go race one of those gay C6Z Carbon edition cars on a road course and let me know how it works out for you.
