Where there any black and silver GTS's built with ABS?

There's a car available locally that the owner states was a November 2000 build that that supposedly has ABS. There is no reference to any such animal in the Viper registry. Is there a visual cue to prove it has ABS? A specific fuse, wiring or reservoir??

My understanding is that 2000 did not have ABS, but either way on any car you would want to see an ABS module where you should see at least 4 lines, so the ABS system can modulate all 4 corners. They look something like this:

On my 97 the Brake master cylinder splits into 2 to handle front and rears, and therefore is a dead simple way to verify that it is NOT an ABS system.

There shouldn't be any 00' models with ABS. Are you sure it's not an 01', just built in Nov. 2000? If it is an 01', they all have ABS.

I think that a quick easy check is to see if there is an ABS indicator lamp relay in the Power Distribution Center in the engine compartment. The upper right relay in the following diagram, that is labeled "Not Used" for non-ABS cars should have a relay in ABS cars.

The ABS module (control unit) is sort of hidden away underneath the left front headlight in the front fascia.

The black with silver stripes was only available in 99 and 2000 and neither of those years had factory ABS.

The 01 and 02 factory built ABS cars also switched over to Black colored brake lines, as compared to the natural finish color lines used on the previous years.

That's a good point, plus there would be an ABS light which should illuminate when you turn the ignition switch to the on position. It would be interesting to find out. Run the VIN at your local dealer. I believe it will show up as an ABS option on the vehicle detail sheet.

That would be a cool rare find if it were true. I think some of the newer members here may not realize that this car is made by Chrysler, anything is possible. Probably untrue, but I wouldn't say impossible.

I've requested photos, but the seller hasn't responded. He swears up and down that it has ABS and sent me this information:

My Viper is 2000 but was released from assembly line on Nov . 2000 .
All Dodge Vipers assembled after Sept are considered 2001 models.
I special order my car in March 2000 but do to the special features I requested was delayed delivery & was released in Sept 20th with other 2001 models.

As you can see, he has the writing skills of a third grader which doesn't give me much confidence in anything he states though

2 questions. Did the seller state what "special features" he requested? Did he take a pic of the Door sticker? That will answer alot of questions too.

Funny, from his grammar, I take his writing as someone who learned English as a second language perhaps starting as late as high school. If so, I am impressed by someone who has that skill rather than thinking he lacks the intelligence necessary to order and pay for a $70,000 Viper (in year 2000 dollars).
