Having been a member on a large firearms forum here in the northeast, the way they run the forum keeps all this type of crap from ever even getting to this point. For starters, all vulgarity when typed out gets autocorrected to ****** So you can cuss and swear all you want, it isn't getting through. Secondly, any tiffs are personal insults are deleted from threads, and parties warned or banned, temp or otherwise. It's my notice when people get away with crap like that for a while it manifests and gets out of control.

LOL! Too funny.
But it's interesting to me to take notice of just how varied opinions are in our forum regarding "general leniency". To some and I'm not promoting one over the other, any form of censorship is a virtual threat to free speech. To others, vulgarity and personal insults should never be tolerated, requiring deletion and/or banning.
Our forum's designated "line" is is somewhere between the (formerly) incessant edits and deletions without notice of .org and the anything goes of the Alley. Most of the time that "line" isn't nearly plum (no reference meant to plumcrazy here) or thin.
Yea ... I'm pretty much begging for sympathy here.

It basically comes down to, from what I see at the other forum, that they manage it with the approach if it would start a rumble in person, it's not tolerated. Personal attacks, not allowed. Swearing? Have at it, it's edited out automatically. There is no free speech on a forum. It's not a street corner, this is someones "house" that is created for everyone to enjoy. Want free speech? Start your own forum, that's basically the way it's looked at.
This thread delivers.
Poor Dave just can't get any respect. Which reminds me, I need to call him back. Aww....maybe someday.
