100,000 miles on my 1999 RT-10

On my way back to Washington from the Mojave Magnum shootout in California my 1999 Viper RT-10 rolled over 100,000 miles. I have owned it since 2007 and I put 43,000 miles since then. I run it on track, show it, and use it as a daily driver on dry days. It has some mods: Belanger headers and 3" cat back exhausts, high flow cats, K&N air filters and smooth tubes and 3:55 gears. It dynos at 443 rwhp. I decided to run it at Mojave, even though it is more of a short track car, but it did fairly well for a car which had so many miles. I was able to run 175.3 mph in the standing start mile and a half in spite of a bad launch. Very nice! I bet all those 43k miles were spent with a huge grin. My viper is going to be on daily driver duty in a few months...good to know they are built for it. Nice video too!

Good to see so many others driving and enjoying their cars. My '99 GTS just went over 88,000 miles. It make me wonder what some people are thinking when you see a three or four year old car with no miles on it sell at auction for pretty much the original selling price. Everyone has their own idea of enjoyment of their car I guess.

I agree.Drive them and enjoy them.If they break ,fix them.If they get a nick,fix it.Having cars and not driving them is like having fine art on the wall IMO.Just not my thing.I have 112K on mine and it`s a DDS and in still in national show winning condition.

Thanks for your comments. I think of an older Viper like a retired racehorse. It may not be as young as some of the other horses, but it has that heart and desire to run which never goes away. I am especially pleased to take it on track and run competitively with much newer cars. At Mojave I was less than 2 mph slower than a 2008 ACR. I know that the ACR aero(wing and splitter) causes drag but it was nice to be in the same ballpark. I have people at car shows that ask me how I can run it on the highway and track and risk paint chips. I explain that as far as I know they still make paint, so I just enjoy what I am doing and deal with it. I had to replace the electric fan assembly when I returned from Mojave, but after 100,000 miles things like that can have problems. I guess I like the fact that I can do most of the maintenance myself, so using this car a lot isn't cost prohibitive.

Awesome milestone! Now I'm feeling a bit guilty as the "garage queen" rests under covers in the garage as I type... my challenge is not, having a desire to drive her.....it's finding the time.
