    Gen V Engine on Gen 2 Body

    Hello , by any chance anyone have tried to put the Gen V engine with the gear and axle on a Gen 2 body ? If not is it possible ?

    Anything is possible, if $ is no issue. I don't think anyone would want to waste the time and money to do it.

    I can see this happening, some worn out Gen II engines, Pick up a cheap salvage GenV block (one without oil starvation) 600 BHP,
    Probably cheaper than modding a Gen II engine and rebuild. It would not be for everyone but I could see it happening

    I have a friend that wrecked his Gen V body chasis hurt bad , his Engine , Gear , Axel is ok , so he either try to get used chasis or buy new chasis and try to get used body parts for sale not sure if there is a place to find these parts. The other option is to swap his Engine ect... to a gen 2 because he don't want gen 1 and you can find cheap Gen 2 car or a body that have a wrecked engine and its for sale .
    Any one knows if there a place to search for these things ?
    He's a close friend am trying to help out

    Interestingly, I asked Dan Lesser of VSP why people hadn't swapped an entire Gen 4 engine into a Gen 2. Here was his response.... I would imagine the same issues would apply to a Gen V engine....

    I actually get asked this a lot... you arent factoring in engine management, and the fact that Gen-1/2/3 controllers CANNOT run normal Gen-4 engines.

    Let me put it into perspective;

    Gen-4 engine: ~15K average cost
    Engine management: 7K minimum
    DBW Pedal: 1K
    Harness design and construction: 5K+... and thats being very generous, and very simple, likely making an adapter harness to connect together what is already there. Surely not a full MIL-Spec job, and will be ignoring a LOT of what is available due to lack of harness budget.

    ... and you still have to contend with a multi-controller design, non-working gauges, or have to develop secondary sensor sets for gauge use as the Gen-2/4 sensor sets are quite different. Gen-4 Crank/Cam trigger patterns and various sensors cannot even be read by the JTEC ECU's or Gen-2 gauge panel. To add insult to injury, you just scrapped a decently stout forged short block, for a very tempermental hypereutectic piston short-block. The block and crank are stronger/larger, but the rods/pistons, not so much.

    So... 28K minimum for ~600 horsepower. VS-X700 starts @ 17K. You just paid 11K more for 100 horsepower less the other way around, and cannot add boost without an engine build. Sure, you added technology, but without the proper controller, wiring, and gauge sets to even make use of it... it doesn't matter.

    If you are looking to build a balls to the wall turbo car, and were going to be doing high-end EMS will all the fancy parts and engine build ANYWAY... it starts to make more sense. For anything else, it makes no sense due to the engine management and wiring changes required just to make it even run.

    I would suggest having your friend sell his salvageable parts and either buy a Gen 2 or a new Gen V...It'll be cheaper either way. Unless of course he plans on doing all the research/development/fabrication himself.

    No he can't he doesn't doesn't have the experience , and thanks for the advice
